Muscle Powered Tuesday Morning Walk along the central V&T Trail. 8 a.m. Join Muscle Powered for a free, guided group walk, hike, or ride around Carson City. Muscle Powered is a local non-profit organization that promotes walking, hiking, biking and trail building. A schedule of all upcoming activities and events can be found at www.musclepowered.org/calendar. The Tuesday morning walk is the central V&T Trail. Meet in the parking area at the south end of Murphy Drive and Vanpatten Ave off of Combs Canyon Road. Morning walks start at 8 AM and are 1 to 2 miles with duration of 1 hour with usually negligible elevation gain, and frequently on paved or smooth paths. Capital City Arts Initiative Presents: New Crop 2019. 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Carson City Courthouse Gallery, 885 E. Musser St. The Capital City Arts Initiative (CCAI) presents its exhibition, New Crop 2019, by artists Mark Combs and Frances Melhop.

Nevada State Museum in Carson City offers training day for new volunteers. 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Do you love Nevada history, and, more importantly, do you love sharing that knowledge with others? If so, the Nevada State Museum has a perfect opportunity. The museum is recruiting for volunteers, who will get a multi-day in-depth jaunt through the museum, through Battle Born Hall at the Nevada State Capitol and through the museum’s collection centers. The Tuesday training is free and comes with a tour guide handbook and name tag. Early registration is required as space is limited. Nevada Artists Association Art Gallery Autumn Membership Show, now through Oct. 18. Enjoy artwork from our member artists. Membership has risen to nearly 150 local artists during our 40th year operating as a gallery. The Autumn Membership show runs from Sept. 8 to Oct. 18 at Nevada Artists Association Art Gallery at 449 W. King Street in Carson City. Open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays. Also, save the date, Nov. 3 we will be hosting our 40th Anniversary Celebration on location at the Gallery, 2-4 p.m. Please join us in marking this historical occasion.

Carson City Republican Women to meet Tuesday at Carson Nugget. Discussion focuses on the Sheriff's Office Mobile Outreach Safety Team. 11 a.m. Carson City Republican Women invites its members and the community to hear speakers Rebekah Bock and Don Gibson from the Mobile Outreach Safety Team. This program is in conjunction with the Carson City Sheriff's Office and is designed to be more preventative in helping the mentally ill before going to jail rather than reactive once they are in jail. They will speak at the group's Sept. 17 meeting to be held this month at the Carson Nugget. Social hour begins at 11:00 a.m. and the meeting and lunch commence at 11:30 a.m. The cost for the lunch is $25/person with reservations required by September 13 by Evite or call Gale at 775-241-2054 or by email at carsoncityrepublicanwomen@gmail.com.

TRIAD to educate Carson City residents Tuesday on new Smart911 system benefits. Noon to 1 p.m. Carson City TRIAD will host 911 System: How to Prepare for First Responders, a Smart911 presentation, on Tuesday, Sept. 17, from noon to 1 p.m. at the Carson City Senior Center, 911 Beverly Drive. The event is free and open to the public. Smart911 is a free service that enables first responders to be better prepared for your situation before they get to your door. When registered with Smart911, information about users’ medical histories and home access instructions can be transmitted to dispatch and responders, allowing them to provide better care. Information for other household occupants, like roommates, children and pets can also be added to your account. The event will be held in the Nevada Room at the Senior Center. Doors open 15 minutes prior to the presentation start time. A $50 gift certificate, donated by Casino Fandango, will be raffled off after the presentation.

Fat Tuesday Business Networking at J's Bistro in Dayton. 5:30 p.m. There will be a Fat Tuesday Business Networking event at J's Bistro in Dayton on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2019. The event is from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. J's Bistro is located at 30 Pike Street, Dayton. Go here to register. Our Dayton/Mound House group meets the 3rd Tuesday of the month. Our Carson City group meets the 4th Thursday the month. No membership fees. Only bring your business cards. Registration is required. Admission is free. Muscle Powered Tuesday Evening Hike, Pine Nuts Mountains. 5:30 p.m. Join Muscle Powered for a free, guided group walk, hike, or ride around Carson City. The Tuesday evening walk is at the Pine Nut Mountains. Meet in the OHV and Equestrian parking area on Sierra Vista Lane about 1.5 miles from Pinon Hills Drive. Tuesday evening hikes start at 5:30 PM and are usually 1 1/2 hours or more duration and are 4-6 miles in length. Water and closed-toed shoes are required. Hat and poles recommended. Muscle Powered Ladies Mountain Bike Ride. 5:30 p.m. Join Muscle Powered for a free, guided group walk, hike, or ride to enjoy Nevada outdoors around Carson City. Meetup at Foothill Drive just off of N Winnie Lane. Rides start at 5:30 PM and are open to all skill levels. All riders must carry water and have a mountain bike in safe working condition, helmet, closed toed shoes, spare tube, pump and tools to change a flat tire. Tuesday night archery shoots return to Carson City's Centennial Park Archery Range. 5:30 p.m. Every Tuesday evening, 5:30 to dusk, the Clear Creek Bowmen host its Tuesday Night Archery Shoots at the Centennial Park Archery Range in Carson City. Both traditional and 3D targets are available. The target range is open shooting for use at no cost. There is a $5 fee (kids 17 and under are free) to shoot the 3D animal targets. We have archery equipment, volunteers and instructors to get you started. Come on out and join us. It’s a great way to experience the world of archery. Open to all ages. Parents of Addicted Loved Ones hold meetings Tuesday evenings. 6 p.m. PAL provides education and support, at no cost, for family members (over 18) trying to save a son, daughter or family member from addiction to alcohol or drugs. By attending our meetings on Tuesdays, 6 p.m. at Partnership Carson City office at 1925 N Carson City St., you will give and receive support from others who are facing the same challenges you are.

Art Night at the Carson City Library. 6 to 7 p.m. Supplies are limited, register in advance online here. Join us once a month to relax through art! Every month we will explore a different technique to use art to help de-stress. All artistic levels welcome. Please note: Children 9 and under must be accompanied by a caregiver of at least 13 years of age at all times. 900 North Roop Street, Carson City.

Empty Bowls, Open Studio. 6 to 8:30 p.m. Create an empty bowl to donate to charity, instruction will be offered to create and paint a bowl or create something on our own during open studio session. Supper Club, Live Music at Living the Good Life Nightclub Bistro and Lounge. 6:30 p.m. Living the Good Life presents a new monthly Tuesday night Supper Club beginning this Tuesday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The evening features a champagne toast, a dinner menu and live music by The Message with special guest vocalist Terri Campillo. The Carson City Fire Department (CCFD) would like to announce the start of the Fall 2024 Open Burn, with burning allowed from November 8, 2024, through January 1, 2025, dependent upon permit status and daily weather conditions. To make this a safe endeavor for those involved, the CCFD will require a burn permit.

Secondary school administrators at Carson MS, Eagle Valley MS, and Carson and Pioneer High School in Carson City chose a support called Check and Connect to implement a system of mentorship provided by school staff.

The intervention is a Tier 2 approach in the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) for schools to address and support attendance and academic success in school.

According to the Secretary of State's Office, 65.63% of registered voters in the capital city came out to cast their ballots, the majority of which utilized early voting (44.69%), followed by mail-in ballots (43.28%), and finally rounding out the last of the voters on election day (12.03%).

Carson Tahoe Health will host a Community Health Fair this Saturday, Nov. 9 from 9 a.m. to noon at Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center, 1600 Medical Parkway in Carson City.

While time is up for the polls, which were scheduled to close at 7 p.m., if voters were in line before the cut off they will be allowed to vote. We will update the results as they come in. Carson City polls could take a couple hours to turn in their results.

Please be aware that mail-in ballots are being accepted as long as they were postmarked by election day, today, Nov. 5. This means that we will continue to see more results in the days to come, which is anticipated and expected.

Lyon County Sheriff's Office detectives traveled to the state of Utah where they arrested Robert Richards for the murder of Sara Filiatraut. Since that time, Richards has been in custody in Utah pending extradition to Lyon County.
