Carson City's Jazz and Beyond Festival continues at 11 a.m. today with live stream of Niall McGuinness, New World Jazz Project

Mile High Jazz Band Association continues the 2020 Jazz & Beyond Festival’s series of live-streamed, streamed, and virtual events through September. The next event, on Sunday, September 13, features Niall McGuinness & the New World Jazz Project playing soul, Latin, and world jazz from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The five-piece band, including reeds, keyboard, bass, drums, and percussion, will be live-streamed from Empire Ranch Golf by A to Zen Media.

Memorial exhibit, virtual prevention walk, music and more highlight weekend around Carson City

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region. Western Nevada College will host a memorial exhibit and informational presentation on the 9-11 attacks on Friday. Partnership Carson City will team up for a statewide suicide prevention virtual walk this Saturday. DMV extends Nevada driver’s licenses and ID cards, offers special hours for new residents

CARSON CITY — The Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles announced Thursday an additional extension for expired or soon-to-be expired driver’s licenses and ID cards and new, limited Saturday hours for new Nevada residents. The DMV is continuing to find new ways to serve the public while operating under COVID-19 safety protocols.

NHP and law enforcement statewide to focus on impaired drivers over Labor Day weekend

The Nevada Highway Patrol and other law enforcement agencies statewide will be combining resources and joining forces from Sept. 3 through Sept. 13, 2020 to apprehend impaired drivers.

DMV to extend weekday hours in Reno and Vegas; no changes for Carson City, rural offices

Nevada DMV will offer extended hours on weekdays but close Saturdays at its Reno and Las Vegas offices, officials announced Wednesday. DMV says the changes will offer more appointments while maintaining COVID-19 health and safety protocols. The plans do not affect Carson City and rural Nevada offices.

The Carson City Jazz and Beyond Music and Art Festival is taking a new direction in response to the coronavirus pandemic. The festival was founded in 2004. This is the first year in which gathering of large crowds at musical events has been restricted due to health concerns.

Tobacco and Smoking Cessation Classes
