A 34-year-old Sparks man was arrested Sunday in the area of Plaza and Sixth Street for suspicion of felony drug charges, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Drayer Fire in Fernley grew to 22 acres before containment Saturday

A brush fire in Fernley quickly grew from a half-acre to 22 acres Saturday, burning sagebrush and grass, before firefighting crews achieved containment.

Miller Lane in Lyon County closed because of flooding

Miller Lane from US95A to Aiazzi Lane near Yerington was closed Tuesday morning due to flooding in the area. Lyon County Road Department will not open it back up until waters have receded and it's safe to drive, said County Manager Jeff Page.

One dead, NHP trooper injured in Highway 50 crash east of Dayton

UPDATE 7:56PM: From NHP: At approximately 2:40 p.m., a Nevada Highway Patrol trooper was involved in a fatal crash on Highway 50, 5 miles east of Dayton. One person was confirmed deceased on scene. The NHP tooper was transported via CareFlight to Renown with serious, but not life-threatening injuries.

In this classroom only course new drivers can prepare for the challenges of driving (and driver license testing) in the Western Nevada College Driver Education Program. The non-credit course meets four days for 30 hours of classroom training; Students must be at least 15 years of age on the last day of class to be eligible to take the course. The WNC Driver Education Program meets the training requirements to obtain a Nevada driver’s license.
