Carson City area weather: Brief cool down with temperatures warming back in time for weekend
After a picture-perfect Memorial Day holiday weekend, weather conditions this week will bring a brief cool down, a slight chance of showers, and then a warm up again in time for the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.
Tuesday will be breezy with chances of afternoon showers with isolated thunder possible, mainly through southern Lyon and Mineral counties. Cooler and near average temperatures return for Wednesday along with shower chances across far northeast California.
Daytime highs Tuesday for Carson City, Carson Valley and Dayton areas will be in the mid-80s, with highs in the low 70s Wednesday and a slight chance of showers. Thursday will bring highs in the upper 70s, and by Friday and Saturday, highs are expected to be in the mid 80s.
With the warmer and drier weather returning later in the week, the weather service nots cold and swift flows will continue on creeks, streams, and rivers from spring snowmelt.
As for flood concerns, a Flood Warning remains in effect along the Walker River near Mason in southern Lyon County. There's a Flood Advisory for several counties, including along the Carson River in Douglas County, due to warming temperatures and snowmelt runoff.
