Drayer Fire in Fernley grew to 22 acres before containment Saturday
A brush fire in Fernley quickly grew from a half-acre to 22 acres Saturday, burning sagebrush and grass, before firefighting crews achieved containment.
The Drayer Fire is now fully contained, according to Lyon County Manager Jeffery Page.
Homes were threatened for a period of time Saturday before firefighters were able to contain the blaze, but no structures were lost or damaged and no injuries reported.
Crews from North Lyon County Fire Protection District, Nevada Division of Forestry, Central Lyon Fire Protection District, Mason Valley Fire District, Storey County, the Truckee Meadows and Bureau of Land Management spent the afternoon fighting the fire.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, Page said.
