Carson City Fire Department and the Nevada Highway Patrol responded Saturday night to two separate vehicle accidents that happened minutes apart on Highway 50 East and Highway 50 West.

SILVER SPRINGS, Nev. — The completion of the USA Parkway could be a golden opportunity for Silver Springs. Nestled in the center of Lyon county, Silver Springs has always been a sleepy little town with not a lot happening. That may soon change.

An 81-year-old Yerington man was found guilty of three counts sexual assault on a child, one count of lewdness with a child under 14, and one count of open and gross lewdness, following a week long jury trial in Lyon County.

UPDATE 11:05AM: NHP Trooper Dan Gordon said the crash involved four vehicles. One person suffered minor injuries and was transported. The cause appears to be motorists not paying attention, which caused a chain reaction at a time of traffic congestion, said Gordon.

Nevada Highway Patrol troopers were called to a crash Tuesday morning involving multiple vehicles in the westbound lane of Highway 50 along Dayton Hill in Lyon County.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office on Monday identified a person of interest in the Oct. 3 slaying of a California man in a room inside the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Stateline at Lake Tahoe.

A Carson City man who was booked Saturday for two felony warrants alleging drug trafficking and possession also faces a gross misdemeanor battery on a police officer charge after assaulting the deputy at the time of arrest, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

UPDATE 3:41PM: A Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch Center dispatcher reports mutual assistance units for both Dayton area fires have been canceled. The incidents are under command of the Central Lyon County Fire Protection District.

Two brush fires were reported Thursday afternoon in the Dayton area of Lyon County, according to Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch Center. Units responding to one of the fires have since been canceled.

Two Carson City men accused of first degree murder in the September killing of an Oregon man have been extradited to Klamath County and will go before a judge on Monday.

The Carson City School District will receive $1.38 million in funding for third phase of the Read by Grade 3 program, also known as RBG3, the Nevada Department of Education announced Friday. Lyon County School District is on tap to receive $671,825 in funding, and Douglas County School District, $655,182.

A 48-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the deaths of three people from Silver Springs, Lyon County Sheriff Al McNeil said Wednesday.

In December 2017 the Lyon County Board of Commissioners will be appointing citizens to various Citizen Advisory Boards. Citizen Advisory Boards are established by the Lyon County Commission to represent residents of Lyon County in designated geographical areas.

SILVER CITY, Nev. — Sophie Scott of New Zealand is the visiting artist at the Resident Artist Program in Silver City this Autumn. UPDATE 4:52PM: The Lyon County Sheriff's Office investigation into the three deaths this weekend in Silver Springs is now a homicide investigation. According to detectives, they also believe this is an isolated incident, and they want to reiterate what Sheriff Al McNeil stated Sunday, that at no time was there a threat to the community.

UPDATE 10:07PM: Detectives with the Lyon County Sheriff's Office along with investigators and specialists from the DPS Investigations Division and the Forensic Investigation Section continue to actively pursue the cause and circumstances of the three deaths discovered in Silver Springs on Saturday night.
According to Sheriff Al McNeil, based on the investigation so far detectives are confident there is no threat to the community.

The Nevada Highway Patrol has identified a Carson City man who died in a crash involving a feral horse early Saturday morning on Highway 50 east of Silver Springs.

A Dayton man who died in a June 5, 2017 crash that involved a Nevada Highway Patrol trooper on US50 in Lyon County failed to maintain his lane when operating his 1999 BMW and is found to be at fault in the crash, according to Reno Police Department’s M.A.I.T. investigators in their final report released Wednesday.
