A powerful winter storm associated with a strong atmospheric river will bring gusty winds and very heavy precipitation to the Carson City, Carson Valley and Dayton areas and deep snow to the upper Sierra tonight through late Monday, according to the National Weather Service.
Carson City Sheriff's Office: Suspect at large in Saturday morning stabbing

A male in his 20s was stabbed by a male suspect, who remains at large.
Lyon County Manager: Walker River flooding forces closure of Miller, Aizzi lanes to Mason Valley

The Lyon County Road Department reports Route 95A between Yerington and Schurz is reopening as well as connecting roads. Rain is falling in the Virginia and Pinenut Ranges and Lyon County is preparing for additional flood issues throughout the county.
NV Energy: Thousands in Northern Nevada without power as winds snap trees and power lines

UPDATE 320PM: As of 3:15 p.m. there were 318 customers without power in Carson City, 5,493 without power in Douglas County, 172 customers in Lyon County and 1,760 customers in Washoe County. Six customers were without power in Storey County.

High winds from the current storm system have caused multiple outages Thursday throughout the Carson City, Carson Valley and Washoe Valley areas, according to NV Energy.

The storm drain system is operating at capacity, resulting in water in roadways and localized intersection flooding. When the storm drains are at maximum capacity water can be observed flowing outwardly.
This is a normal response. All personnel are at their full ability assisting citizens.
