One dead, NHP trooper injured in Highway 50 crash east of Dayton
UPDATE 7:56PM: From NHP: At approximately 2:40 p.m., a Nevada Highway Patrol trooper was involved in a fatal crash on Highway 50, 5 miles east of Dayton. One person was confirmed deceased on scene. The NHP tooper was transported via CareFlight to Renown with serious, but not life-threatening injuries.
Reno Police Department M.A.I.T. Investigators are handling the crash investigation.

UPDATE 4:22 PM: The deceased victim of the crash is an adult male, according to a witness on-scene who performed CPR on him before paramedics arrived. His name has not been released. Family is being notified. The cause of the crash is under investigation.

UPDATE 4PM: NHP reports via Twitter the crash happened 5 miles east of Dayton. One confirmed fatality. An NHP trooper suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries. The westbound lane is blocked. The east bound lane is open allowing for traffic to move in both directions.

The Nevada Highway Patrol reports one fatality in a motor vehicle accident on Highway 50, west of Silver Springs that happened Monday afternoon. The crash also reportedly involves an NHP trooper who suffered broken ribs and was being flown by Care Flight, according to dispatchers.
A medical helicopter has landed at the scene of the crash, which was reported at 2:39 p.m. on Highway 50 and Rainbow in Lyon County.
According to Lyon County dispatch's Twitter page, "traffic is closed in both directions on on Highway 50/10 Mile for the accident scene. Unknown when it will be open. Avoid the area."
