— Tuesday Morning Walk to Northridge Linear Park Trail and Blackwell Pond hosted by Muscle Powered. 9 a.m. Come and Muscle Powered for its weekly one hour walks to enjoy Nevada outdoors around Carson City! Meet in the parking area at the corner of New Ridge Drive and Northridge Drive. Water and closed-toe shoes required. All walks are 1 to 2 miles with duration of 1 hour with usually negligible elevation gain, and frequently on paved or smooth paths. — Holiday Craft Fair at the Carson Mall. The Carson Mall Craft Fair includes local crafts, toys, clothes, Santa and more! The Fair will run until Christmas Eve from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Santa and his elves will be joining the fair inside the Carson Mall for meet and greets and pictures on Saturdays and Sundays through December 23.

— Nevada State Archives brown bag lunch Tuesday features reading of 'Christmas in Nevada.' Noon. Author Patricia Cafferata will read from "Christmas in Nevada" on Tuesday, Dec. 11, from noon to 1 p.m. at the Nevada State Library, Archives and Public Records in Carson City. The delightful and touching stories tell how Nevadans have celebrated the holiday, from 1858 to the present day. All are welcome to attend. Some of the more unusual accounts include the story of three miners trapped underground for forty-five days during the Christmas season, Tonopah’s “Nevergreen” tree, and Reno’s Santa Pub Crawl with thousands of costumed revelers. — South Carson Street Complete Streets community meeting. 4:30 p.m. Citizens and stakeholders are encouraged to provide feedback and explore the South Carson Complete Streets Project conceptual designs, which are in the early stages of development. The meeting will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2018, from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Carson City Sheriff’s Office Ormsby Room located at 911 East Musser Street, in Carson City. Presentations will begin 5 p.m. and 6 p.m., leaving additional time for gathering ideas and open discussion. The South Carson Complete Streets Project plans to convert the large South Carson Street corridor into more productive uses that facilitate comfortable, convenient, and safe travel for pedestrians and cyclists; improve access to abutting businesses; spur private investment in this important and vibrant commercial corridor; increase driver safety; and prepare Carson City for future Smart City advancements. — Tuesday Evening Hike to Mayor's Park hosted by Muscle Powered. 5:30 p.m. Join Muscle Powered for free hikes each week to enjoy Nevada outdoors! Meet at the corner of Koontz Lane and Center Drive. — Carson City Firehouse Subs fundraiser Tuesday to benefit local breast cancer patient. 5:30 p.m. Join friends and family of Holly Lacy for a fundraiser at Firehouse Subs in Carson City on Tuesday, Dec. 11 from 5:30 to 9 p.m. The longtime Nevada resident has recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. Holly recently had surgery to remove the tumors, but she still has a long road to recovery ahead. Firehouse Subs in Carson City will donate 20 percent of the proceeds generated Tuesday night to helping the Lacy family. It is located at 3120 US-50, Carson City.

— Family Movie Night at Carson City Library: Beauty and the Beast. 5:30 p.m. Join the Carson City Library to view Disney’s 2017 adaption of "Beauty and the Beast" which follows the fantastic journey of Belle, a bright and independent young woman who is taken prisoner by a beast in his enchanted castle. — Empty Bowls, Open Studio at Ogres-Holm Pottery. 6 p.m. Create an empty bowl to donate to charity, instruction will be offered to create and paint a bowl or create something on our own during open studio session. — Carson City school board to discuss budget changes, vaccine exemptions, early release dates. 7 p.m. The Carson City School District board will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11 in the Sierra Room of the Community Center, 851 E. William Street. A resolution to approve an augmented and amended budget for the 2018-2019 fiscal year will be held. During the hearing, a disclosure of changes to the final budget will be provided. Anyone who would like to attend will be heard. Prior to the meeting, written comments may be filed with the Clerk of the Board of Trustees and will be considered.

— Under the Skin: Tattoo Art at Western Nevada College. 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Art from Northern Nevada and Northern California tattoo artists are featured in the latest exhibit at Western Nevada College’s (WNC) Main Gallery. The “Under the Skin: Tattoo Art” exhibit includes 50 pieces of art — many of which are available for purchase. Mediums include oil, watercolor, acrylic, ink and 3D pieces. The exhibit will show through Monday, Dec. 17, with a closing reception scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 13 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The tattoo artists are from Tattoo BonBon in South Lake Tahoe, Skeleton Skin Tattoo in Mound House, Authentic Tattoo Company in Reno, Stingray Tattoo in Reno, Black Cat Tattoo in Reno, Hooligan’s Ink in Carson City and The Ruby Lantern in Carson City. The Main Gallery is located in WNC’s Bristlecone Building. The gallery is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Saturdays, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

— From Carson City to Dayton: Be a Santa to a Senior. Now through Dec. 11, 2018 Home Instead Senior Care and Center for Healthy Aging have set up their trees, and placed the tags for our seniors. These are seniors, who are in homes, and have no one to celebrate the holidays with. Our community from Carson City to Dayton and in between have been absolutely wonderful by getting a tag, and filling the wishes for our Seniors here. There are trees set up at Dayton Smith's, Paradise Salon, Les Schwab and United Federal Credit Union (off of Topsy), and AAA. Scoup's Ice Cream and Soup Bar has purchased 12 gifts from some of our local businesses, each one to be gifted to 12 lucky individuals. Items to be gifted come from Rocking And Rolling, Artsy Fartsy Art Gallery, The Purple Avocado, Gather, The Bike Smith, Touched by an Angel, Carson City Culture and Tourism Authority, Carson Jewelry and Loan, Rustically Divine, and Kaleidoscope. Drawing tickets will be given to our customers with each purchase. The drawing will continue as long as we have tickets (7,654 tickets) or until Dec. 21, at closing, one day prior to the last drawing. — Toys for Tots Carson City and surrounding counties offers hotline for toys. Toys for Tots will be offering gifts to families in Carson City, Douglas, Storey and Lyon counties for Christmas. — Christmas tree permits available on Carson, Bridgeport ranger districts. Permits to cut Christmas trees on the Carson and Bridgeport Ranger Districts of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest will be available for purchase now through Dec. 25. The U.S. Forest Service Christmas Tree Program is designed for families, businesses, and institutions wishing to cut their own trees for decorating. Christmas tree permits must be purchased in person and are issued on a first-come, first-serve basis for $10 each, with a limit of two trees per household. Permits are nonrefundable and nontransferable, and only valid through Dec. 25, 2018. The Ranger Districts have a limited amount of Christmas tree permits available, and once those allotted permits are sold, no more will be available.

— The Capital City Arts Initiative presents its exhibition, Americana with Cadmium Orange, by artist Gig Depio at the CCAI Courthouse Gallery, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Depio is an artist and an advocate for public art in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was awarded the 2016 Fellowship Grant in Painting by the Nevada Arts Council (NAC). He has worked on various exhibitions and projects with the Nevada Museum of Art, Nevada Arts Council’s OXS Gallery, and UNLV Marjorie Barrick Museum, among others. — Meals on Wheels Carson City will be participating in the 2018 Subaru Share the Love Event as a member of Meals on Wheels America, one of four national Share the Love charitable partners supported through the promotion. From Nov. 15 through Jan. 2, 2019, Subaru of America will donate $250 for every new Subaru vehicle sold or leased to the customer's choice of participating charities.
