Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region. Franktown Apples in Washoe Valley is hosting apple picking Friday through Sunday. In celebration of National Public Lands Day, Nevada State Parks will have a fee-free day on Saturday filled with hikes and tours. Through the last few months we have experienced a new way of doing business like no other. We are dealing with social distancing through a pandemic changing the way we are able to provide care. For Seniors this is an especially difficult time as they have limited visits as it is. Rosemary has been reassuring her clients daily about their safety and helping them keep the joy in times of worry.

Lori Morris and Intimate Designs Floral have been giving back to the local community for years with Angels With Flowers, which Morris founded in order to donate floral arrangements to hospitals and senior care centers throughout the Carson City area.

The Nevada Northern Regional Behavioral Health Policy Board elected Taylor Allison, executive director of Partnership Douglas County, as their new chair on Feb. 26.

“Our board is comprised of 13 passionate individuals focusing on a common goal,” Allison said. “Together, we can move the needle and help improve the lives of patients and families in Northern Nevada.”

It was a cold day, but a beautiful one to have a wrapping party at Home Instead Senior Care in Carson City. We had a big turn out with volunteers who came Saturday to wrap over 400 presents for our seniors in the community.

With activities lining up around the capital city through the weekend, Thursday events around the region include a meeting of the Healthy Communities Coalition in Silver Springs, an afternoon hike hosted by Muscle Powered, and a Carson City CASA volunteer information hour and training seminar. Along the music front, CHS Band will host its winter concert at the Carson City Community Center and our own local country music star and Nashville recording artist Art Mulcahy will be at Jimmy G's. In December, Mondays don't really seem like Monday. At least for those of us caught up in the holiday spirit of giving and kindness. What a weekend of community fellowship this was among Carson City locals and we're just getting started, counting down the days until Christmas.
