Ready for the weekend, Carson City? The weather should hold up on Saturday, but no promises on Sunday. Hit the slopes if you are so inclined, several Tahoe resorts have opened for the season. Runners should head out to Washoe Lake State Park for the first of the Be Bold, Run in the Cold series sponsored by Ascent Runs. If you prefer something warmer, head to Crossroads Lounge for their Grand Re-opening. It’s under new ownership and is sure to have something to keep you toasty.

Tis the season for craft fairs and festivals. St. Peter’s Episcopal Church is hosting its annual bazaar. The Greenhouse Garden Center is holding a holiday open house, and you can also sign up for the annual Pies to the Rescue. Head to the Plaza Hotel for the Annual Stop and Shop with vendors galore. Purple Avocado is a fun place for one of a kind gifts. Local authors will be available for book-signings at A to Zen, and check out the bag of books sale at Dog Eared Books.

The Brewery Arts Center offers a free concert tonight with the talented We Rock Kids; the rock n' roll camp offering after school programs and seasonal music camps comes to the BAC Dec. 1.

Six local bowlers were inducted in the third class of the Carson Country Bowling Association Hall of Fame at their annual meeting on Saturday, April 27, at HomeGrown Bowl. Carson Country is the local association of the U.S. Bowling Congress.

Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space will hold a "Sheep Talk" this Monday, April 29 from noon to 1 p.m. so residents can learn from Carson City staff about the popular fuel reduction program used annually with the use of "firefighting" sheep.

Camp GOTR (Girls on the Run) is coming to Carson City for the second year in a row! Camp GOTR will be a week-long, half-day summer camp from 8 AM- 12 PM at the Carson City Community Center the week of August 5th- August 9th.

Girls on the Run Sierras is a character-building program for girls in 3rd through 8th grade operating in the Reno-Tahoe area.

Douglas County officials have announced that construction will begin soon on the first phase of the Muller Parkway Project. Carson City area casino gaming revenue was up slightly in March, according to the Nevada Gaming Control Board. Statewide, revenue was down 1.65 percent compared to March 2023.
