There's two days left to donate a new, unwrapped toy so that local kids will have toys to unwrap on Christmas morning. The Northern Nevada Dream Center's third annual Dream Christmas Toy Drive is in full swing and donations of new, unwrapped toys for children ages 1-18 can be donated at locations listed below through Dec. 15.

The Northern Nevada Dream Center’s 5th Annual Back To School Bash is happening this Friday, August 11th, from 6 to 8 p.m. The Bash will be held at the Marv Teixeira Pavilion at Mills Park in Carson City.

The first meeting of the year for the Carson City Republican Women's Club will be Tuesday, January 19 at Casino Fandango. The guest speaker will be Janet Freixas, President of the Nevada Federation of Republican Women.

Social hour begins at 11:00a.m. and the lunch meeting at 11:30a.m.

The Carson City Republican Women's Club will hear candidate for Carson City Supervisor Maurice White at their upcoming luncheon meeting.The meeting will be held Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at Casino Fandango commencing at 11 a.m.

The cost for the meeting is $25. Reservations are limited to the first fifty who reply to carsonrepublicanwomen@gmail.com or by contacting Lori at 775-220-3646.

Reservations are mandatory and must be received by Friday, September 11, 2020.

Fifteen Carson City non-profits were awarded nearly $800,000 in COVID-19 relief funding via the CARES act during the Board of Supervisor's meeting held Thursday.

The State of Nevada through the CARES Act has allocated over $10 million in Coronavirus Relief Funds “CRF” to Carson City. Carson City’s Preliminary Plan of Expenditure allocated $1 million to be awarded to non-profit organizations located in Carson City.

The Northern Nevada Dream Center in partnership with Carson City Foursquare Church at Mark Twain Elementary School are hosting a "Back To School Drive-thru Bash" for all elementary school students needing school supplies and whose families are unable to afford purchasing those items themselves.

In the midst of COVID-19, several local non-profits, churches, homeless shelters and social services are helping those in need. Community food resources in the Carson City, Minden, Silver Springs, Yerington, Gardnerville and Dayton areas have put together plans and options during these unprecedented times.

The Nevada Department of Agriculture announced 13 organizations will be awarded Community Food Response relief funding through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.

The Carson City Host Lions will hold an Installation Dinner on Wednesday, June 24 beginning with a social hour at 5:30 p.m. at the Carson City Plaza Events Center, with dinner following at 6 p.m. Region Chair Adam Hopkins from the Reno Cigar Lions Club will perform the installation ceremony. The Northern Nevada Dream Center held a food drive at Capital Ford in Carson City Friday afternoon in order to help those in need throughout our region.

Capital Ford is reminding locals that tomorrow, Friday, May 29, residents can drive-thru their lot from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to drop off food donations to benefit the Northern Nevada Dream Center!

Lori Morris and Intimate Designs Floral have been giving back to the local community for years with Angels With Flowers, which Morris founded in order to donate floral arrangements to hospitals and senior care centers throughout the Carson City area.

Food insecurity in the Carson City area has risen sharply since the COVID-19 outbreak in Nevada, resulting in an increased need for food as residents shelter in place during this state of emergency.

The Northern Nevada Dream Center in Carson City has responded by launching a virtual food drive to help meet the growing needs of the community.

Stimulus Program Information

The coronavirus relief bill passed March 27 by Congress provides payments to individuals who make less than $100,000 a year. The payment total $1,200 for each adult who makes $75,000 or less, plus $500 per child. The payment amounts decrease if you make between $75,000 and $99,000. The income is determined by your latest tax return filed with the IRS. It will use your 2019 taxes if you have filed them already, or your 2018 taxes if you haven't. Soroptimist International of Carson City is pleased to announce our “Women Helping Women” Honorees to be recognized for their dedication to improving the lives of women or girls in our community, at our inaugural “Celebrating Women Helping Women” event on Feb. 20, 2020 at the Carson Nugget, from 5:45 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
