Debbie Lambin of MyThousandWords book sculptures will be sharing something special in book sculpting small items like ornaments! Debbie was the 2019 Artown poster artist and has been featured on PBS “ArtEffects” and several other media publications. Her works can be found in Artsy Fartsy Art Gallery in Carson City and many other locations throughout the country!

CARSON CITY — The Stewart Indian School Cultural Center and Museum announced Thursday it is reopening to the public on Tuesday, Jan. 19, the day after the nation celebrates Martin Luther King Day.

Friends of the Carson City Library will be hosting a book sale this Saturday, Dec. 5 at Browsers Corner Book Store located at 711 E Washington St. from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Heading into Christmas Eve, activities around the capital city are winding down, but the last minute shopping will continue, so prepare for that rush on the roadways and at local stores. It is the last day of the Holiday Craft Show at Carson Mall, so stop on by. There are no planned Muscle Powered fitness events scheduled. Heading into Monday, it sure does feel like Christmas around the capital City. With only two shopping days left until Christmas be sure stop by the Carson Mall for the final days of its Holiday Craft Show. Weather wise we're looking at some valley snow showers into the afternoon and evening. Activities include a spirited discussion by local historian CW Bayer about the origins of Reno's tawdry reputation, plus Carson Cigar Company will hold its annual Ugly Sweater Christmas Party. Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include the KTVN Share Your Christmas Food Drive at the Governor's Mansion in Carson City and at Minden's Carson Valley Inn, Homestead Holidays at the Silver Saddle Ranch and more. The Polar Express Train Rides are sold out for the rest of the year, but Santa Train express rides are steaming up at the Nevada State Railroad Museum over the weekend. Read on for details.

Observant travelers in Northern Nevada are reporting numerous reindeer sightings along the 85 mile stretch of US 395 between Bordertown, on the north, and Lake Topaz, on the south.

The Willow Reindeer herd now has 3,000 individually crafted works of art. Each reindeer has been signed by the local elementary students that have created it over the past 22 years. With an average of 20 students per class, there have been over 60,000 local children involved in the massive local art project.

The annual Carson Mall Holiday Craft Show is now underway! Every day until Christmas Eve from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., you can visit the Carson Mall in Carson City, which has been turned into a winter wonderland.

Pancakes with Santa is a Fundraiser for our Miss Carson City, Miss Douglas County and Outstanding Teen Scholarship Program. It will be held at the Calvary Chapel, 1635 E Clearview Dr., in Carson City, Dec. 14 from 9 to 11 a.m.

Everyone has a disability of some kind, but most learn how to cope with or overcome it; however, not everyone with a disability is aware enough to recognize whether or not they even have a physical challenge. These individuals have a severe and profound physical and neurological disability, cannot care for themselves, need full-time assistance, and are some of the kindest human beings in the world, many of whom are students in the Carson City School District and at CHS. Each year, students in the CHS Comprehensive Life Skills program make crafts to sell at the annual CHS Craft Fair and give as gifts.

Heading into the Veterans Day weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region over the next four days. Events include live comedy, art and heater, multiple holiday craft fairs around Carson City and Carson Valley as well as several Veterans Day ceremonies and offers of gratitude to vets and active duty members of the U.S. military on Monday. St. Peter's Episcopal Church in downtown Carson City at the corner of Telegraph and Division streets will host its annual Holiday Bazaar on Saturday, Nov. 9 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Items available include hand-crafted notecards, hand-made apparel, accessories, and items for the home. Raggedy Ann dolls and Christmas bears will provide unique gifts.

A fundraiser for Willow Bill and his battle against cancer will be held at A to Zen on Sunday, December A from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The Christmas season can be difficult for children in foster care. For some, it may be the first Christmas not spent with their families. For others, it is just one more Christmas in the child welfare system.

Home Ranch for the Holidays, a celebration of the season that includes a vintage toy exhibit, music and treats, returns to Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 15-16 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Foundation for Carson City Parks and Recreation is holding an open house at the Wungnema House Sunday afternoon from 2-5 p.m. There is no admission fee, and all are welcome.

The Wungnema House is located on the east side of Mills Park across from Carson High School. It was built by a family of skilled Hopi stonemasons shortly after World War II and served as the family’s home until the early 1970s.

Fernley Estates Senior Living’s 2nd Annual Holiday Bazaar is the perfect place to start your holiday shopping and bring the kids for a photo with Santa Claus. Residents of Carson City’s Richards Crossing, a housing, on-the-job training and resource facility for veterans, homeless and extremely low-income individuals, were delighted and surprised by the generous holiday gifts given to them by a number of organizations.

The Carson City area is awash in entertainment, shopping, and family-friendly options this weekend. Santa Claus is popping up all over, including at Benson Feed for the annual CASI Pet Photos with St. Nick and aboard the train at our Railroad Museum’s Santa Train. Dog Town Canine Rescue will host a Holiday Boutique Booth this weekend at the Carson Mall. The booth will be there Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 9-10 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The West Side of Carson City has been victimized by the theft of lawn ornaments and decorations. Three days in a row my parents house has had their decorations stolen during the night.

We have filed a police report, but we are asking the wonderful citizens that live in our great town to be aware of this. If you have been a victim please call the Sheriffs Department to file a report.

UPDATE 2:20PM: A Red Flag Warning issued earlier this morning has been canceled due to arriving precipitation. A High Wind Warning remains in effect until 4 a.m. Thursday. A Flood Watch was issued Wednesday afternoon for the Carson City region, western Nevada and Lake Tahoe.
