Heading into the weekend, there’s a mountain of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days, including HopeFest9 on Friday, dirt bike races at Fuji Park, a job fair at Eagle Valley Children's Home, and the final weekend of the Jazz and Beyond festival and Levitt AMP outdoor concert series at the Brewery Arts Center.

The first Punk Rocktober Fest at the Shoe Tree Brewing Company drew out a crowd of punk lovers with live punk rock music, a punk flea market, fresh food, games and beer served by the brewery.

Today's column features good news and bad news. The bad news is Labor Day is now behind us and we must re-adjust to a regular two-day weekend again. But therein lies the good news. Another weekend has arrived, and you'll find plenty of ways to enjoy your time off.

We are running out of summer weekends. I know that’s hard to believe right now, but hoodies and everything pumpkin is just beyond the horizon. Grab summer with both hands and go enjoy this beautiful city. The Brewery Arts Center brings Dennis Johnson and the Mississippi Ramblers to the stage for tonight’s free concert. Check out the Railroad Museum for your fill of music and antique motor cars. Asylum Sideshow returns again and again to the Reno, Carson City, Minden area. This time for dinner? Minden Meat and Deli are hosting a dinner and show night, Sept. 8 at 7 p.m.

With a mix of comedy, rock music, and shocking acts that will make your heart stop. Asylum started as an experiment and a fluke, without expectations Asylum has grown to amazing popularity with shows packing out and a huge following on facebook. Now is your chance to see what you have missing.

In a return engagement, Sacramento area band, Todd Morgan and the Emblems, will bring 50s, 60s and Rockabilly style music to Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, July 26.

The Mylo McCormick Project will bring blues, funk and rock music to Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 21.

The Carson City Library will kick off its “Libraries Rock” Summer Learning Challenge on Sunday with a food truck, yoga and other family-friendly activities.

With soggy weather here, some cancellations are inevitable. One thing you can count on, however, is the monthly Downtown Business Association’s wine walk; it’s a rain, shine, or blizzard event. Stay dry and well-fed with the Kiwanis annual BINGO Spaghetti Feed at the Carson Senior Center. The music was loud and lively Saturday night on the Minnesota Street Stage as Nashville's Southern Drawl Band entertained a crowd of hundreds as headline act for this weekend's Levitt-AMP concert series.

Nevada author, journalist, and poet Scott Neuffer has released his first LP rock album entitled “Perpetual Star.”

The self-produced album is being distributed worldwide by CD Baby and is available for streaming and download on iTunes, Spotify, Rhapsody, Google Play, iHeartRadio, Tidal, and other music stores. The eight tracks on the debut album have also been incorporated into a sync-licensing program through YouTube and other partners.

Ready for the weekend, Carson City? The weather should hold up on Saturday, but no promises on Sunday. Hit the slopes if you are so inclined, several Tahoe resorts have opened for the season. Runners should head out to Washoe Lake State Park for the first of the Be Bold, Run in the Cold series sponsored by Ascent Runs. If you prefer something warmer, head to Crossroads Lounge for their Grand Re-opening. It’s under new ownership and is sure to have something to keep you toasty.

Now considered a Carson City spring tradition, the Rotary Club of Carson City will play host to its fourth annual Carson City Beer and Pizza Championships at the Carson Mall on Saturday, April 25.

The community is welcomed to taste, judge and enjoy finely crafter beer brewed from around the region and piping hot fresh pizza tossed and baked from local restaurants. Sixteen respected craft beer brewers and microbreweries will offer their top selections to attendees as they compete for awards during the Championships.

Mixed Company will perform all of their fun dance cover music on February 20, 2015 at 7pm.

The weather is warming up providing for another great season activities throughout Carson City and Northern Nevada.
