Sunday, Nov. 6: Things to do around Carson City
There is an excellent chance that your devices have already fallen back one hour, but not everything is digitally connected. Daylight savings time is done for the year, and hopefully you’ve enjoyed your extra hour of sleep. Do something good for yourself and enjoy Community Yoga at Comma Coffee or join in the weekly bike ride leaving from Fremont Elementary School this morning. Keep reading, and have a great day.
SUNDAY:
- Muscle Powered Weekly Bike Ride - Meet in the south parking lot of Fremont Elementary School, next to the Linear Ditch Trail (meet at 8am; consists of two loops 10-15 miles long each, this will allow a rider to do 10-15 miles or 20-30 miles; ride pace will vary depending on rider level, but usually about 12-16 mph; email Shane shane@shanetrotter.net for questions; All riders must have a bicycle in safe working condition, helmet, and closed toed shoes. Participants are responsible for their own transportation to the meeting site)
- First Sunday Breakfast at the Elks Club: 515 N Nevada (bar opens 8am; 8:30am-11am, $8)
- Nevada Artists Association Art Exhibit featuring artists Mike and Pam Black with Photography by Chas. H. McDonnell, III at the Carson Visitor Center (8am-5pm)
- Breakfast and Bowl at Carson Lanes (9am-12pm; breakfast and unlimited bowling until noon $13, $8 kids 12 and younger)
- Community Yoga with Allison Reitz at Comma Coffee (9am-10am; $10 cash, first class only $5; beginners are welcome; Bring your mind, body, and mat -a limited number of extra mats will be available)
- CC BMX Racing at the Livermore (Edmonds) Sports Complex: 1555 Livermore Lane (signups 9am-10am; $10, must be USABMX member; new rider kits available)
- Deadman’s Creek Guided Hike - Meet at the Maze parking lot in Washoe Lake State Park, Washoe Valley (10am, please arrive 10 minutes early; This is a strenuous 3 mile hike with steep climbs and expansive views of Washoe Valley; park entrance fee $7 per vehicle, Nevada residents $5; Participants should dress in layers for the weather, bring plenty of water and snacks, and wear good hiking shoes. A camera and binoculars are suggested)
- Bingo fundraiser for CASI at Carson City Senior Center (doors 11am, 12:30pm-4pm; $10 buy in, extra packs $5, Special games $1 each; 50/50 raffle and door prizes; lunch available; must be 21+)
Who doesn’t like spaghetti? Flight in Minden is hosting a fundraiser for Steve Jacobo, a local Paralympian. If you’d rather have a sandwich, Subway on Topsy Lane will donate a portion of this afternoon’s proceeds to Relay for Life.
- Free Homebrew Demonstrations at Just Brew It: 1214 N Carson St (12pm-5pm; Attend our demo day and get $10 off your starter kit purchase)
- Barony of Fal Dare, Amtgard Live Action Role Play Plus Combat Group at Mills Park, at the end of Oxoby Loop (12pm-4pm; Foam sword fighting, crafts, classes; child-friendly, under 18 must have a waiver signed by their parents; newcomers welcome, for info email FalDareMonarchy@gmail.com )
- Easy Jam Sunday at A to Zen: 1803 N. Carson St. (1pm-3pm; We try to keep it simple so that musicians of all ages and skill levels can participate. We welcome music of all genres and styles; Audience is welcome)

- Fundraiser for Relay for Life at the Topsy Lane Subway (2pm-close; portion of proceeds to benefit Relay for Life of Carson City/Douglas County)

- Raiders Booster Club at the Eleventh Frame Lounge in Carson Lanes (vs the Denver Broncos; 5:30pm; food/drink specials; supervised kids under 21 welcome)
