Sunday, Oct. 8: Things to do around Carson City and beyond

It might be a blustery Sunday, but the snow isn’t falling yet so enjoy what’s left of our Indian Summer. Whatever you couldn’t cram into Saturday is probably still around: the Aviation Round-up, Italian Festival, and the Outhouse races are still going strong. The Carson City BMX season is coming to an end soon, go check out their races at Livermore Sports Complex. Kids & Horses is offering their popular summer camp program starting on August 5, and ending on August 9. Camp runs daily from 8:15 a.m. to noon. This camp is geared toward children with and without disabilities between the ages of 6 to 16. We will have tons of fun with creative crafts, games, and horse-related activities.

UPDATE: It is with great regret that we have decided to cancel our Polecat Tavern Grand Opening Party. Due to the construction on W Winnie Lane, there's inadequate access to W Winnie lane and the West Winnie Shopping Center. The only way to access the shopping center is to drive over the rolled sidewalk on the East end of the shopping center which you can't get to except for going through the neighborhood.

We intend to operate our normal hours of 3 to closing so if anyone wants to traverse the detour route to come find us, we will be open and very happy to see you.

Carson City Historical Society hosts Gary Ballew, who will present "Old Washoe City: A Nevada Ghost Town Hiding in Plain Sight" on Thursday, July 18, at 6:30 in the Carriage House behind the Foreman-Roberts Historic House, 1207 Carson Street, Carson City.
