Mile High Jazz Band Association continues the 2020 Jazz & Beyond Festival’s series of live-streamed, streamed, and virtual events through September 27, 2020.

The next event, A Day at the Ranchette, is today, Sunday, September 20, 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., features the Sagebrush Rebels. This event was moved from Silver Saddle Ranch, and in-person attendance is sold out. However, it will be live-streamed on Facebook by A to Zen Media in Carson City. Mile High Jazz Band Association continues the 2020 Jazz & Beyond Festival’s series of live-streamed, streamed, and virtual events through September. The next event, on Sunday, September 13, features Niall McGuinness & the New World Jazz Project playing soul, Latin, and world jazz from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The five-piece band, including reeds, keyboard, bass, drums, and percussion, will be live-streamed from Empire Ranch Golf by A to Zen Media.

The first event, on Sunday, August 30, at 3:00 p.m., features The Jazzettes - Cami Thompson, Erika Paul, and Julie Machado - three wildly talented singing musician friends who may change the way you look at Jazz.

The Carson City Jazz and Beyond Music and Art Festival is taking a new direction in response to the coronavirus pandemic. The festival was founded in 2004. This is the first year in which gathering of large crowds at musical events has been restricted due to health concerns.

The Jazz & Beyond festival committee is rescheduling many of the events originally planned for August 2020 because of the recent rise in coronavirus cases. However, the committee plans to go ahead with the second annual Open Studios Tour from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, August 22, and Sunday, August 23. Admission is free.

The Jazz and Beyond festival committee announces that the winner of the 2020 poster and program cover art contest is Karen Kreyeski, for her entry, “After Midnight Jam.” The winner of the T-shirt design is Evan Tynan, for “2020 Jazz & Beyond Festival Logo.” These were selected from ten entries to highlight the 17th annual Carson City music and art festival.

Heading into Labor Day weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region over the next four days, which include guided tours at the Nevada State Museum, movie showings at Mills and Schulz Ranch Park, a school supply car cruise and Bingo fundraiser at the Carson Mall, trash pickup at Lake Tahoe, a Rolling Stones tribute band at Carson Nugget, Virginia City’s Labor Day Parade and more!

TUESDAY, August 7: Things to do in Carson City

Due to heavy smoke settling on the area, the RoseBud's Dance Band's performance for Monday, Aug. 6, as part of the Carson City Jazz and Beyond Music and Art Festival has been moved to inside the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall, 511 W. King St. The concert was originally planned for Comma Courtyard, but the performers want to present the event in a comfortable and healthy atmosphere.

Friday opens the 15th annual Jazz and Beyond Music and Art Festival in Carson City that features 17 days of music, art and film at multiple venues in Carson City, August 3-19.

The soothing melody of classical music wafted through the air of downtown Carson City tonight, courtesy of the Carson City Symphony hosting its 34th annual Pops Party concert at the Capital Amphitheater on the grounds of the Nevada Capitol complex.

Carson City Symphony's 34th annual Pops Party concert will be held at the Capital Amphitheater, between the Capitol and Legislature Buildings on Sunday, June 10, at 6 p.m. The program features the Carson City Symphony, Carson City Symphony Chorus, and guest singer Cherie Shipley. Admission is free.

It might be a blustery Sunday, but the snow isn’t falling yet so enjoy what’s left of our Indian Summer. The Jazz and Beyond festival committee announced Thursday the winner of the 2017 poster and program cover art contest is William Smith, a member of the Nevada Artists Association.

Conditions were ideal for an outdoor concert in the country Sunday afternoon. With highs in the eighties, the dog days of August seemed tame compared with seasons past.
