Friday fun in the Carson City area: Hot August Jazz and more
Get ready for all things shiny, whether it be brass or chrome. You’ll find plenty of horns playing during the Jazz and Beyond Music Festival that kicks off today. Just about every event is free to the public and family friendly, so get ready for a melodic few weeks. The historic Bliss Mansion, across the street from the Governor’s Mansion, hosts the opening night Garden Party. Hot August Nights gets an early start in Virginia City with a show and shine and poker run; 400 classic cars are waxed up and ready to impress.

- — Monthly ‘Breakfast with Supervisor Brad’ Bonokowski at the Cracker Box (7am-8am; open to all Carson City residents; Come with questions about city issues or new ideas you may have; the coffee is on Brad)
- — Muscle Powered Easy Walk: Mills Park - Meet in small parking lot on Seely Loop, off Saliman Road (8am-9am; No pets allowed in park; Participants are responsible for their own transportation to the hike meeting site; All walks require closed-toed shoes and water. Hats, sunscreen and walking sticks are recommended; friendly, leashed dogs welcome; The Friday Easy Walk is a repeat of the Tuesday Easy Walk)
