Heading into Thursday, happenings lined up include a monthly meeting of the Carson City Native and Newcomers, a preserving history workshop through the Nevada State Archives, trivia night at Bella Vita Bistro, an introduction into improv comedy at the Brewery Arts Center, a Muscle Powered afternoon hike and more. The workshop, Introduction to Improv is free of charge and will be held at The Brewery Arts Center's Performance Hall on Thursday, March 12 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of events around the Carson City region over the next three days. Dozens of sweets are in store for Saturday. The American Association of University Women holds its 20th annual Feast of Chocolate at the Carson Plaza and Event Center. Artsy Fartsy Gallery hosts its 9th annual Jewelry and Chocolate Show with several new decorative pieces. To cap-off Saturday, the legendary Cab Calloway Orchestra makes its way to the capital city.

Good morning, Carson City, on this first day of February. Our area has been enjoying Spring-like weather and temperatures all week long. Today will be no different, so enjoy the pleasant conditions while they last.

A series of storms is forecast to move into our region Saturday, dropping temperatures as well as rain and snow. As the photo suggests, rain in the morning is a sailor's warning, so batten down those hatches.

It is a different show every time as the BAC Improv Troupe creates shows for you right on the spot (probably because we are too lazy to actually memorize anything.) Milt Abel headlines the Carson Comedy Club this weekend on Nov. 16-17 inside the Carson Nugget located at 507 N Carson Street in Carson City. The doors open up at 7:15 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m.

The Washoe Zephyr is a double-sided coin. The breeze is a welcome reprieve from hot summer afternoons and can do wonders clearing the smoke from the valley. On the other hand, that wind does local firefighters no favors if it just helps push the fire line faster. There may be some relief from the bad air today, but you’ll still want to take it easy.

The High Altitude Players present “Whose History is it Anyway?” an evening of comedy improvisation at Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park on Thursday, August 2 from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

What a week. I hope you’ve had the chance to catch your breath from Independence Day, we’ve got a wine walk on its way tomorrow. Tonight, head down to McFadden Plaza at Third and Carson. Tonight’s outdoor concert features the Reno Swing Set, so bring your dancing shoes. The ‘Dive-In’ Movie at the Carson Aquatic Center is a fun option for families. FRIDAY, July 6: Things to do in Carson City

The Brewery Arts Center in Carson City will present a performance with Comedy Improv masters Rick and Laura Hall on Sunday, July 1 in the Performance Hall at 6 p.m. This performance will also feature local players from a sold-out workshop the pair will host at the BAC earlier in the day.

It’s not just Friday, it’s the very first day of June and I love June. We are already off to a great start with the first of the Friday at Third concerts tonight in McFadden Plaza. Shane Dwight is back to perform for this free, family friendly event. The NEA sponsored Carson Big Read event comes to a close tonight with a free showing of 2010’s movie, True Grit in the Community Center Theater. Take the kids to the Children’s Museum for a special Night of Magic with Phoenix Phenomenal.

Oh, wow. May is starting off with a bang. Today is jam-packed with options for families, adults, and everyone in-between. The True Grit: Carson City Big Read kicked off yesterday, and today you’ll find the original 1969 version of the film playing at the Brewery Arts Center. The Children’s Museum hosts a Friday Fun Night with a True Grit Buckaroo Sing-a-long. Your options hardly end there. With live music, improv and comedy, theater, karaoke, and some pre-Cinco de Mayo celebrations throughout Carson City and beyond, you’ll have plenty of reasons to hit the town.

Well, the expected rain didn’t show up overnight, but that doesn’t mean it’s not on its way. The brand-new Friday morning walk with Muscle Powered is weather permitting and will meet at the Multi-purpose Athletic Center instead of Fuji Park if it’s wet out. You’ll notice a sea of blue downtown after noon as the annual pinwheel planting for Child Abuse Awareness takes place; the community is welcomed to lend a hand. It’s aviation night at the Children’s Museum with paper airplanes and pilots on the agenda.

Join CCAI in celebrating the newest Courthouse Gallery exhibit: ‘Writing from Mars’ by Rick Parsons opens today with a reception at 5 p.m. Le Cirque Vagabond brings their rock sideshow revue, Asylum, to the Brewery Arts Center’s Performance Hall for a special performance; no one under 18 will be admitted.
