Easter Weekend Family Fun
Easter bonnets, baskets, eggs, and bunnies are about to descend, and here is a sneak peek at where to find the fun. Most all of the egg hunts are free, but I've made sure to include an entry price if one exists.
SATURDAY, March 26:
Celebrate Easter at the Nevada State Railroad Museum (10am-4pm; Storytime at 11am; special crafts and egg hunt; $6 adults, children free)
Fifth Annual Egg-stravaganza at Seelinger Elementary: 2800 S Saliman Rd (10am; hunt starts at 10:15am and is open to kids through 5th grade; Parking on site is limited, use street parking)
Egg Hunt and Easter Bunny Photos at the Carson Mall (Photos 10am-5pm; Egg Hunt for ages 1-4 and 5-8 takes place at 2pm; special egg hunt for women 19+)
Seventh Annual Easter Fiesta at Western Nevada College (10am-3pm; Free Egg Hunts: 10am, 12pm, 2pm; Coloring Contest, Pinatas, Face Painting, Bunny Limbo, Musical Chairs and much more. Activities tickets: $1 per ticket, $5 for 6)
There will be an Easter egg hunt at Washoe Lake State Park, Saturday, March 26 beginning at noon. Hop over to Washoe Lake State Park for an Easter celebration hosted by the South Valley Volunteer Fire Department. The Easter Bunny will make an appearance and the egg hunt will begin at 12:30 p.m. sharp. Food and drinks will be available for purchase. Meet at the Group Use Area pavilion. Park entrance fees are waived for this event. Washoe Lake State Park is at 4855 Eastlake Blvd. (Take the Eastlake Blvd Exit #44 from I-580.). Meet at the Group Use Pavilion: turn left past the fee booth and it is the 2nd parking lot on the right. Additional parking is located at the Maze parking lot and the Day Use Area.
Easter Egg Hunt at the Silver Springs Day Use Area of the Lahontan State Recreation Area - enter from the Silver Springs entrance off Fir St. (begins 10am SHARP; free, kids 12 and younger; 3,000+ plastic eggs with candy; four groups: 3 and under, 4-6, 7-9, and 10-12)
Cotton Tails: An Easter Egg Hunt and Pancake Brunch at Mormon Station in Genoa (10am-2pm; Brunch SOLD OUT, egg hunt $6; two separate egg hunts beginning at 12pm: ages 5 and under, and 6+; Photo booth, face painting and the Easter Bunny)
Kiwanis Annual Egg Hunt at Centennial Park – north of Eagle Valley Golf Course (11am; Free to all children, thousands of eggs and hundreds of prizes, meet the Easter Bunny)
Easter Celebration with crafts and the Easter Bunny at the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada (11am-1pm; included with admission; bring your camera or camera phone)
Easter Egg Decorating Contest at the Silver City School House: 385 High Street, Silver City (11am; hardboiled and plastic eggs needed)
Easter Egg Hunt at Carson Plaza Retirement: 2120 E. Long St. (12pm)
Easter Bonnet and Pet Parade in Virginia City (12pm; Line up and registration begins at 11:30 at the Jerky Company on C Street for those who would like to participate)
South Valley Volunteer Fire Department Annual Easter Egg Hunt at Washoe Lake State Park (12pm, group hunt begins at 12:30pm; free admission to park; bbq available for purchase)
Easter SUNDAY: March, 27
Easter Morning Sunrise Service at the Capitol Grounds Amphitheater (7:30am-8:30am; sponsored by C5 Church)
Easter Services and Activities at St. Paul’s Lutheran: 1201 N. Saliman (early service 8am, followed by an Easter Breakfast hosted by our Youth Group and a Easter Egg Hunt for our children ages 3-10 at 9:30am. The Easter Bunny has also promised to stop by; second service at 10:30am)
Meet the Easter Bunny and Egg Hunt at David Walley’s Hot Springs Resort, Genoa (9:30am AND 11:30am; on lawn by the restaurant; ages 12 and younger)
Celebrate Easter at the Nevada State Railroad Museum (10am-4pm; Storytime at 11am; special crafts and egg hunt; $6 adults, children free)
Easter Dutch Oven Cooking Demonstration At Mormon Station State Historic Park, Genoa (1pm; free; Park Rangers will prepare a special ham with sides to share with visitors, and discuss how pioneers used the same cast iron cooking techniques in the 1850s)
