I Love Carson City's Weekend Event Summary: Feb. 28 - March 1

Event Date:
Repeats every day until Sun Mar 01 2015 .
February 28, 2015 (All day)
March 1, 2015 (All day)

Keep up the snowy thoughts, Carson City. We desperately need the water, the ski resorts need visitors, and those mountains are so much prettier with a blanket of white. Wildcat Softball on Saturday is weather pending, so it’s too early for me to call it canceled. Same goes for the street work that is supposed to close Downtown Carson Street on Sunday. If I were psychic, I’d play a lot more Keno.

If you want to brave the cold, head out to Washoe Lake State Park for a guided hike to the dunes. If indoor activities are preferable, try warming up with some tea and finger foods at Foodies Bystro High Tea. You will need to make reservations, though. Piper’s Opera House in Virginia City will host a Father-Daughter Dance starting at 3pm on Saturday.

A medical supply drive will be held at Mike’s Pharmacy to help a Carson High School student fulfil her Senior Project obligations. And Carson High Cheerleaders will hold a Junior Cheer Camp for girls and boys grades K-8.

It might get cold out, but Saturday night is red hot. Get your blood pumping at the Brewery Arts Center at High Sierra Swing Dance Club’s Monthly Dance in the Ballroom or with the eclectic band, Suspect Terrane, in the Black Box Theater. Live music can be found in all corners of Carson City: Sassafras, Glen Eagles, the Carson Cigar Co., Bella Fiore, the Carson Station, Casino Fandango, and at the 11th Frame Lounge at Carson Lanes. Get your boogie on with live DJs at Jimmy G’s or Living the Good Life.

Carson City Symphony welcomes violinist Stephanie Sant’Ambrogio to their concert, The Eight Seasons, at the Community Center this Sunday. Pre-show entertainment starts at 3pm in the lobby, you can meet the soloist in the Sierra Room at 3:15pm, and the concert begins in the Bob Boldrick Theater at 4pm. Bring the whole family; admission is free for those 16 and younger.

Every week, I create a list of the fun stuff and events going on around the Carson City area for my Facebook page, I Love Carson City. There is quite a bit to do in our beautiful capital this week, so grab the kids, your friends, and family and have a great weekend.

My weekly Facebook list includes Friday-Thursday, so please go here for events beyond Sunday. You do NOT need a Facebook account to access the information. If you have an event that I have overlooked, feel free to send me an email at ILoveCarsonCityNV@gmail.com.
