Meet the Artist at Chamber Artisan Showcase this Saturday
The second in the Carson City Chamber’s Meet the Artist series will take place this Saturday, Feb. 28, at the Artisan Showcase located at 1900 S. Carson Street between 2-4 pm.
Featured artist will be Linda Ritter, owner of Pinyon Pottery, who will be using her portable potter’s wheel to demonstrate how she turns a lump of clay into a functional art piece. She will reveal how she came to love working with clay over the past year, embarking on her second career after retiring from government after 30 years of service.
On display will be various previously “thrown” art pieces. Part of the proceeds will go to support the Capital City Circles Initiative, the cooperative community effort to elevate people out of poverty.
Ritter is also creating a special pottery line for our furry friends that will be unveiled Saturday. Part of the proceeds will be donated to CASI to add to their funds to support the new animal shelter. Refreshments will be served.
The Carson City Chamber recently finished an overhaul of its building including adding the Artisan Showcase where local art and jewelry are sold and the works of talented artists from within the region are now featured. Go here for a story and video by Carson TV News on last month's grand opening.
