Judicial candidates Ozzie Fumo and Bonnie Bulla will be the featured speakers at Monday's virtual Democratic luncheon. Fumo, Nevada State Assemblyman for District 21 in Las Vegas, is running for Nevada Supreme Court, Seat D. Bulla, who was appointed to Department 3 of the Nevada Court of Appeals by Governor Steve Sisolak in February 2019, is running to retain that seat.

Bonnie Bulla, who was appointed to Department 3 of the Nevada Court of Appeals by Governor Steve Sisolak in February 2019, and is running to retain that seat in the November general election, will be the featured speaker at Monday's virtual Democratic luncheon. She is opposed by Susan Bush, a Las Vegas attorney in private practice.

Heading into the weekend there’s a number of activities around the Carson City region. New safety guidelines for the state of Nevada have been enforced, so please make sure to bring a mask and practice social distancing.

Spacious and picturesque John L. Harvey Field in Carson City, nestled at the base of the Eastern Sierra, has provided a lot more than baseball entertainment to the community since being constructed in 2006.

The AYSO Carson City Youth Soccer Region 140 organization is bringing excitement back to the state capitol.

Registration for the upcoming fall season is open for kids ages 3-18. Early bird registration ends July 15 and can be made online or in-person at Yogurt Beach, located at 3228 N. Carson St. in Carson City. In-person registration will be held Wednesday, July 15 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, July 18 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Homecoming, first seen in 1911 at the University of Missouri, is a wonderful event celebrated throughout the US at high schools and colleges. Homecoming is more than just a football game, it encompasses multiple celebratory events such as bonfires, tailgate parties, dances, and the crowning of a King and Queen. Fall is in the air in Carson City, and a change in the weather was one more reason for kids and adults alike to get out and celebrate this year’s Disney themed Happiest Homecoming on Earth.

We're heading into the midweek, Wednesday, August 21, 2019 with sunny skies and activities throughout the day including day 2 of the Jukebox International Film Festival at the Carson City Community Center, Jazz and Beyond festival performances to complement Wheeled Food Wednesday at the BAC followed by a classic outdoor movie to boot, "West Side Story." There's also a free creative event: "Community Art Card, Creating Social Circle" at Comma Coffee, Salsa dancing and more. Enjoy the day.

Having made it through the first day of school in Carson City, it is onward and upward as we head into Tuesday, August 20, 2019. Events around the area include fitness hikes and bike ride, a free floral design class at Silver City School House, art showings and Congressman Mark Amodei at Casino Fandango. Also featured is the launch of the Jukebox International Film Festival at the community center, a jazz quintet performance at Comma Courtyard and the 115th birthday celebration of Count Basie as part of the Jazz and Beyond music festival. Heading into Thursday, August 15, 2019 we can expect hot weather to continue with high temperatures near 100. Among events for the day, there will be a wreath remembrance ceremony for fallen Carson City law enforcement officers at the sheriff's office, a Muscle Powered morning hike, art showings, and a meeting of the Status of Women in Nevada group at the Carson Nugget. As part of the Jazz and Beyond music festival, there will be an outdoor "Woodstock Remembered" concert at Comma Coffee and a music presentation, "All About that Bass" by Scot Marshall and Friends at the Nevada State Museum.

Heading into the midweek, Wednesday, August 14, 2019 activities abound around the capital city. There's a new group for writers that meets at the Brewery Arts Center; a salary negotiation workshop at WNC, a chautauqua and author presentations at Dangberg Historic Park. There's also the Jazz and Beyond Carson City Music Festival that will feature the Wesley Orsolic Trio during Wheeled Food Wednesday at the BAC, with jams to continue at Living the Good Life; there's also a real estate workshop for veterans, art showings, salsa dancing and more. Heading into Tuesday, August 13, there's a galaxy of events lined up, beginning at midnight with a meteor shower watch party at WNC's Jack C. Davis Observatory. When the sun arrives there's fitness events, a book talk at the Nevada State Library and Archives, outdoor Carson City jazz festival happenings at Comma Coffee and Bob McFadden Plaza, family movie night at the library and more. Heading into the first day of the work week, if you're an early, early riser or are settling in for the night, you'll want to step outside at around 3 a.m. for the peak of the Perseid shower, which will be in the eastern sky. If you missed them, there will be a viewing party hosted by Carson City Parks and Rec at the Jack C. Davis Observatory at WNC beginning at midnight Tuesday morning, August 13. Heading into Tuesday Aug. 6, which means the safest family celebration of the year at the 17th annual Carson City National Night Out. This is an event like no other, where agencies who work in areas of public health and safety gather at Mills Park to meet with Carson City residents. This event features 3 hours of information booths, games, demonstrations, food and fun. Also happening Tuesday is a free robotics mini-camp for kids in nearby Silver City, Reciprocity Inc. will host a fundraiser at Rustically Divine, there's the Culinary Traveler’s Club's Polynesian Paradise featured at Bleu Café; the Carson City Classic Cinema Club will feature a Sci-Fi favorite at the BAC, plus fitness outings and more. Youth ages four to 15 gathered at the Pete Livermore Sports Complex in Southeast Carson City Saturday with their families, coaches, referees and league volunteers to begin the American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) Fall season.

Come see Tuesday night how the best pro-soccer team in the Silver State trains for a match at Pete Livermore Sports Complex. The practice is open to the public and will run from 5:30-7:30 p.m. After the training session, players will be available for autographs and photos. A 45-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday in the area of Paul Way for suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, a sheriff’s deputy said.

Valerie Sue Meyer, who started with Carson Futbol Club at age 11, says the club prepared her for three successful varsity seasons at Carson High School and her next step — college soccer.

The Carson Region's only Professional Development sports team, Western Nevada Futbol Club, sits atop the national United Premier Soccer League's Pro Premier Division-Northwest Conference and will be hosting Magic Valley FC from Twin Falls, Idaho this Saturday.

Registration for spring soccer for Carson City AYSO Region 140 ends March 17th. Registration is open to children ages 4 to 8 who live in Carson City and Carson Valley.

Talents Athletic Center isn’t just a place to come in and play out of the inclement Northern Nevada weather. It’s also Carson City’s premier location for indoor soccer and flag football games.

I’m usually a lover of sunny days, but right now I say bring on the rain. The moisture is a welcome help to our heroic firefighters in Lake Tahoe and Washoe Valley. Because of the wet weather and the recent fires, some activities have been postponed: most notably the Advocates to End Domestic Violence’s Annual Light After Dark Run. Local youth soccer players will be treated to a special day at Western Nevada College in Carson City this Saturday. WNC’s soccer club is presenting Youth Soccer Day to honor players, families and coaches at its men’s match with Sonoma State at John L. Harvey Field beginning at noon.

In the historic town of Dayton, six miles east of Carson City, there's a pizzeria that serves up more than fresh pies.

Registration and signups for fall boys and girls AYSO Carson City Youth Soccer will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Talents Athletic Center next to Harbor Freight: 2749 N Carson St. The program is open for children ages 4–18.

It’s hard not to be impressed by the winning records of the Carson Futbol Club. But if you talk to the coaches themselves, they’ll tell you the club means so much more than trophies, though trophies are always nice.

“It works pretty much like a family,” said Frank Martinez, coach of the boys CFC team Pumas Elite. “The main thing is to guide these boys to be better people and better men.”
