UPDATE 11:55PM: One person suffered minor injuries that did not require medical transport to the hospital in the Tiger Drive structure fire Sunday night, said Carson City Fire Department Battalion Chief Jon Pedrini.
The fire started in an 8 foot by 8 foot outdoor detached laundry facility at 71 Tiger Drive. The fire spread was stopped as it closed in on the main living structure, Pedrini said. The mobile home had mainly exterior damage as well as smoke and water damage. An adjacent unit had some fire damage to siding.

What has become an annual situation since COVID, continues to be a dangerous issue on US50 and SR89 at Lake Tahoe. It has nothing to do with masks or social distancing but has everything to do with parking. Many people heading to Tahoe to find some sort of snow to play in have forgotten how to be safe and park safely along the roadways.
In just a few days over the Christmas holiday weekend, 111 parking tickets were issued by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) on US50 at Echo Summit and SR89 at Emerald Bay.

A 40-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the 2200 block of Michael Drive Thursday night after allegedly backing his truck into a fence and damaging his neighbor’s vehicle.
According to the arrest report, the man was arrested after deputies were dispatched to a residence on report of an intoxicated subject who had crashed into his neighbor’s fence.

Since the 1980s, Carson City Health and Human Services has been undertaking mosquito abatement to stem the flow of potential mosquito-borne diseases.
However, it was determined that for many years — and possibly even decades — CCHHS hasn't had a Hazard Communication Plan, which is meant to provide proper training to employees on handling dangerous or toxic chemicals. Without training, this could mean that employees may have been exposed to dangerous chemicals as part of the abatement program.
