On Jan. 11, 9:30 a.m., while the greater Reno area was digging out from over two feet of snow, the Sierra County, California Sheriff's Office contacted 775 Offroad and Recovery (775OFR) regarding a family of four, including 2 young children, stranded overnight near Stampede Reservoir in a Lincoln Navigator. 775OFR is a non-profit dedicated to recovering anyone stranded off-road, staffed entirely by volunteers, including their 24-hour dispatch line.

The outages are occurring throughout the capital city. Multiple downed power lines and overturned trees are being reported. Fire fighters and first responders are responding to many of these calls.

UPDATE 5:20 p.m.: While many NDOT traffic cams are down due to the wind through Washoe Valley, it appears at this time that southbound traffic is able to make it into the valley.
Any vehicles over 9 feet are not permitted. Wind speeds are extremely high, please use caution.

A 38-year-old Carson City man was arrested for domestic battery just after 5 p.m. Thursday afternoon.
According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched to an apartment complex on report that the man had punched a neighbor in the face while walking past the man’s front door.

Just after 5 p.m. on Thursday evening, Carson City deputies were dispatched to the area of Fairview Drive and Butti Way on report of a crash involving an intoxicated subject.
When deputies arrived on scene, they made contact with a 40-year-old Carson City man who was driving the at fault vehicle.
