Carson City man lands in jail after backing into fence, damaging neighbor's truck

A 40-year-old Carson City man was arrested in the 2200 block of Michael Drive Thursday night after allegedly backing his truck into a fence and damaging his neighbor’s vehicle.
According to the arrest report, the man was arrested after deputies were dispatched to a residence on report of an intoxicated subject who had crashed into his neighbor’s fence.
Upon arrival, deputies met with multiple neighbors who gave witness statements attesting to the fact that the man had backed his vehicle into the fence that separated his and his neighbor’s yards.
When he backed into the fence, the neighbors said, the fence then caused damage to the neighbor’s truck, which deputies confirmed.
The neighbor confronted the man, and the other neighbors came outside to see what was happening, one of which caught the incident on their doorbell camera.
When deputies spoke to the man, they noted they could immediately smell a strong odor of alcohol coming from his person. He was swaying while standing, and had red watery eyes and slurred speech.
When deputies asked the man what had happened, he “became belligerent and made several non-sensical statements,” according to the report.
Deputies asked the man several times if he was willing to perform a field sobriety test, and each time the man agreed, but then would stop and ask what would happen if he refused.
Finally, the man walked with deputies to the sidewalk to perform the tests, but before the test could begin, the man laid on the ground on his stomach and “started to yell profanities.”
At this point, deputies placed him under arrest for driving under the influence.
The man was taken to the jail and underwent a three-series blood draw to determine his level of intoxication.
