Carson City arrests: Man booked for allegedly backhanding his wife, breaking her glasses
A 59-year-old man was arrested Tuesday for suspicion of misdemeanor domestic battery after he allegedly backhanded his wife, causing her glasses to break, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.
At 10:23 a.m. officers were called to a casino in the 3800 block of US-50 East in reference to a domestic battery report. A deputy met with the victim in the casino and observed a small cut on the right bridge of her nose and swelling on her left cheek bone and left temple.
She advised she was in the car with her husband running errants. The two began arguing. She stated her husband backhanded her with his right hand, striking her in the face and knocking off her glasses. She demanded he stop the car so she could get out. They ended up at the casino where she called 911, the report states.
A deputy made contact with the man in the parking lot. He said there was an argument in the car, where it escalated and said his wife made first contact during the incident, in which he said she grabbed his sunglasses off his face and threw them out the window.
The officer inspected the man and did not find any injuries. He stated he spends a lot of money on Ray-Bans and that she has done this before, the report states.
The man admitted to grabbing his wife's glasses off her face and breaking them. The woman's glasses were found broken under the car. A deputy searched for the man's glasses in the vicinity where they were allegedly thrown out the window. They could not find the glasses. The husband denied he backhand slapped his wife. Due to the woman's injuries and broken glasses, he was booked for suspicion of domestic battery. Bail: $3,137.
