Celebrate New Year's Eve at Polecat Tavern

Celebrate the New Year with us at Polecat Tavern in Carson City. Keith Alan Barnett & the Lonesome Polecat Band will be playing all evening beginning at 8pm.

There will be a Free Champagne Toast at Midnight. Bring your friends & ring in the New Year at the Polecat Tavern!

WhiteHouse Nevada New Year's Eve Party
Live music, food, a midnight champagne toast and more are planned Sunday, Dec. 31 at WhiteHouse Nevada, 402 East Telegraph Street in Carson City.

The bar opens at 3 p.m. Live music by Stephen Rehm is from 7 to 10 p.m. Catering by Outwest Catering and Dollface Cheesecakes. No admission.


Black and Gold New Year’s Eve Party at Jimmy G's Cigar Bar

There will be a DJ to play at 10 p.m. and free champagne to toast at midnight. The party will be Jimmy G's Cigar Bar, 301 N Carson St in Carson City.

Join Gardnerville for our Annual New Year’s Eve Candlelight Labyrinth Walk on Dec. 31, 2023. They will have fire pits to stay warm and hot cocoa/cider for the whole family.

Why walk a Labyrinth on New Year’s Eve? It’s a time to create hopeful tomorrows. Labyrinths are used throughout the world as a way to quiet the mind, recover a balance in life, meditate, gain insight, and reduce stress in order to create and celebrate.

The Labyrinth is located at Heritage Park Gardens, 1461 Ezell Street, Gardnerville. HPG is a project of Main Street Gardnerville in cooperation with the Town of Gardnerville.

Art with Aloha at the Carson City Community Center through Feb. 22; artist reception Tuesday

Jackie Pias Carlin’s art brings fresh air with tropical flora beauty to our wintery season. Carlin’s show, "Art with Aloha", will be in the Community Center’s Crowell Board Room, through Feb. 22, 2024. CCAI will host a reception for the artist on Tuesday, Nov. 7, 5 to 6:30 p.m. with an artist introduction at 5:30 p.m. The Community Center is located at 851 E William Street, Carson City. The Crowell Board Room is open for all the city’s public meetings and upon request.

'Windows to the Soul' exhibit by James Gayles featured at Carson City Courthouse Gallery

James Gayles’ watercolor portraits aren’t just real, they seem to tell a story. The Capital City Arts Initiative’s exhibition, "Windows to the Soul", presents James Gayles’ watercolor paintings at the Courthouse Gallery from Oct. 4, 2023 through Jan. 25, 2024.

CCAI will host a reception for the artist on Wednesday, Oct. 11, 5:00 - 6:30pm with the artist introduction at 5:30pm. The Courthouse is located at 885 E Musser Street, Carson City; the gallery is open Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm.

Want to kick smoking in 2024? Carson Tahoe Health offers quit classes starting in January

With the new year ahead, quitting smoking is at the top of accomplishment lists for many. Carson Tahoe Health welcomes all who want to quit and to be a part of a supportive, group effort for smoking cessation. The 2024 first round of 8-week classes begins in January.

Each year, a Historic Preservation Award is awarded by the Historic Resources Commission to Carson City residents or organizations who have gone above and beyond in their dedication to historic preservation.

The Nevada Law Enforcement Officers Memorial is today, Thursday, May 2 at the Nevada State Capitol in Carson City. The memorial brings hundreds to the capitol grounds. The ceremony begins at 1 p.m.

More than 48 Carson High School Future Business Leaders of America students attended the state conference in Sparks, Nev. this past week. In total, 38 of those students earned 74 “Top-10” placements in 30 separate events. Additionally, three CHS FBLA students took state with first-place finishes and 15 of them qualified for the National Business Leadership Conference in Orlando, Fla. this coming June.

Green Our Planet will host the second annual Northern Nevada Giant Student Farmers Market on Wednesday, May 15 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Fuji Park on The Park Grass in Carson City. The Northern Nevada Giant Student Farmers Market will feature approximately 10 schools throughout the northern part of the Silver State.

Miller Counseling and Wellness Center began partnering with Douglas Center for Hope and Healing to offer grief support groups for adults in Carson City in 2024. There has been an amazing turnout, and the group appears to be filling a much-needed void in services to our community.
