— Network with host Jenny Treece at Coffee Connections at Rustically Divine. 9 a.m. Join Coffee Connections host Jenny Treece, Advertising/Marketing Director, Carson Now, on Thursday mornings, from 9-10 a.m., at Rustically Divine, 410 N. Carson St. in Carson City. Come mingle with other business professionals and people in the community to expand your network and your way of thinking. — Exhibit: Clothing with a History, October 4-7, noon. Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park, 1450 Highway 88, Minden.
— Thursday Hike to V&T Trail, North end hosted by Muscle Powered. 3 p.m. Join Muscle Powered for free hikes each week to enjoy Nevada outdoors. Today's hike begins at 3 p.m. Meet in the dirt parking area opposite Murphy Drive on Combs Canyon Road. Water and sturdy shoes are required. Hat, sunscreen and poles recommended.
All hikes are 2-4 miles with duration of about 90 minutes, sometimes with elevation gains of 500 feet or more. Hike duration does not include time to carpool. — NAMI gala features Nellie Bly, honors local leaders. 5 p.m. NAMI Western Nevada is proud to invite the Carson/Douglas region to enjoy a gala evening on Oct. 4 that honors local leaders in addressing mental illness. The entertainment will be a dramatic presentation portraying Elizabeth Cochrane Seaman, better known as Nellie Bly, as she went undercover into the Women's Lunatic Asylum to uncover and report on conditions. Mary Bennett, renowned actress and producing artistic director of the Bruka Theatre, has created this original piece expressly for NAMI Western Nevada. The Board of Directors will also recognize award winners for their impact in our area. Raffle prizes and a silent auction will round out the evening at Minden's charming CVIC Hall, 1604 Esmeralda Avenue, beginning at 5 p.m. For tickets please visit www.namiwesternnevada.org.
— Monthly fundraiser to benefit the Smithwick and Francone family at Living the Good Life. 6 to 9 p.m. Live Music by Musicole, which is donating its performance for the cause. 100 percent of the proceeds collected Thursday by the band will go to the family. 1480 North Carson Street.
— Weekly meeting of the PAL (Parents of Addicted Loved Ones) support group Thursday night has been CANCELED. The PAL group will meet again Thursday, Oct. 11. PAL meet every week to offer education and support for parents or spouses dealing with an addicted family member. The group meets Thursday nights, 6:30 p.m. at the Carson City Fire Station 51 meeting room, 777 S Stewart St.

— Washoe Tribe of Nevada and California Native TANF Program launch Winter Coat Drive. The Washoe Tribe of Nevada and California Native TANF Program is hosting a winter coat drive Oct. 1 through Nov. 2, 2018. Please donate new or gently used, clean coats, hats, gloves and snow pants. Items will be distributed to families in need on Nov. 8, 2018 at 2310 South Carson St. Suite 1 Carson City or the Douglas County Washoe Tribe of NV & CA Native TANF Program office, 1248 Waterloo Ln, Gardnerville.
— Student Art Exhibition: The Wind Calls, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Capital City Arts Initiative (CCAI) announces it’s exhibition, The Wind Calls featuring nine University of Nevada, Reno, students’ work. The free exhibition is available to the public through October 9, 2018, Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – noon and 1:00 – 4:00 pm. It is held at the BRIC, 108 E Proctor St., Carson City. The Wind Calls includes work by Mahedi Anjuman, Nicki Bracco, Mark Combs, Teal Francis, Hannah Huntley, Gwaylon Leaf, Frances Melhop, Ally Messer, and Carla Miller. The artists used a wide variety of art media including mixed media, ceramics, sculpture, painting, printmaking, and photography to make their art and comments on contemporary life and society.
— The Capital City Arts Initiative, also known as CCAI, presents its exhibition, "Jenny Raven: The Creative Growth Years 1979 - 1984" with artwork by artist Jenny Raven in the city’s Community Center Sierra Room, 851 E William Street, Carson City. The exhibition is available to the public through October 18, 2018. The Sierra Room is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
— Nevada Artists Association opens Carson City Autumn art show. The Nevada Artists Association opened its annual "Autumn" exhibit will run through Oct. 19, 2018. More than 100 local and regional artists make up the non-profit NAA which operates the gallery located at Carson City's Brewery Arts Center. In addition to the Autumn Show, two association members will be featured, with art work displayed on the coveted back wall of the gallery, artist Cindy Whitaker and photographer Fred Howland will be exhibiting their finest. The Gallery is located at 449 West King Street. It is open Tuesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Go to www.NevadaArtists.org for more information.
