Jim Peckham, Executive Director of Friends In Services Helping (FISH), will be the featured speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon. FISH is rural Northern Nevada’s largest and most complete social services program. It provides food, clothing, shelter and medical aid to the homeless, hungry and underemployed within our community, with the objective of helping families and individuals become self sufficient.

Speaking at Monday's Democratic luncheon will be Carson City Sheriff Kenneth T. Furlong, who will speak to items of special interest in and around Carson City, including measures, seen and unseen, that law enforcement agencies at all levels are and will be taking to ensure that this election season is free of violence and threats of violence.

Lisa Schuette, candidate for reelection to the Ward 4 seat on the Board of Supervisors will be the featured speaker at this Monday's Democratic luncheon. This event is scheduled for 1:00 PM on Monday, September 23rd. It can either be attended in person at Black Bear Diner, inside Max Casino, or online via Zoom.

Before the start of Monday's luncheon, which will feature judicial candidate Kristin Luis, Carson City Clerk-Recorder Scott Hoen has agreed to take the floor and go on Zoom to explain how the state's new voting system, called the Voter Registration and Election Management Solution - VREMS for short - will impact our elections here in Carson City.

The speaker at the September 16th Democratic luncheon will be Kristin Luis, District Judge in Department Two of the First Judicial District of Nevada. The district covers Carson City and Storey County.

Speaking at the September 9th Democratic luncheon will be Greg Kidd, independent candidate for the the United States House of Representatives, Nevada District 2. As no Democrat is running, Kidd is in a two-way race against incumbent Republican Mark Amodei. He intends to caucus with the Democrats, but has pledged to work with colleagues on both sides of the aisle.

Speaking at the August 26th Democratic luncheon will be Carson City Library Director Joy Holt. She will provide an update on all the library's many goings-on, as well as a rundown on some newly-acquired best sellers that might be of interest to progressive-minded readers over the Labor Day break.

Joy Holt's resume includes experience as a library aide, library assistant, academic student reference librarian, assistant library director, digital services librarian, assistant to the state librarian and deputy library director.

The speaker at the August 19th Democratic luncheon will be Michelle Pedersen, candidate for Carson City School Board of Trustees, District 7.

The speaker at the August 12th Democratic luncheon will be John W. Henley, candidate for Carson City School Board of Trustees, District 7.

Since July of 2006 John Henley has been a law enforcement professional and certified public manager for the Nevada Department of Corrections. As a member of the school board, he wants to ensure that all students in the district receive a rigorous and well-rounded education that prepares them for success in life.

The speaker at the August 5th Democratic luncheon will be Mark Krueger, candidate for District Judge in Department Two of the First Judicial District of Nevada.

The district covers Carson City and Storey County. The winner of this race will serve out the last two years of the six-year term of now-retired District Judge James E. Wilson. Incumbent Judge Kristin Luis was appointed by the governor to fill the position in the interim.

The speaker at the July 29th Democratic luncheon will be Kristin Luis, District Judge in Department Two of the First Judicial District of Nevada. The district covers Carson City and Storey County. She was appointed to that position by Governor Lombardo following the retirement of Judge James E. Wilson. She was sworn in on January 9, 2024 and is currently running for election to a full six-year term.

The speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon will be Shane Scott, Field Organizer with the Nevada Democratic Party. He will talk about opportunities for Carson City's 10,000 Democrats to get involved with this year's election, and how everyone inside the party's "big tent" can work together to elect Democratic candidates up and down the ballot.

The speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon will be Michael Walker, who has held the District 5 seat on the Carson City School Board for the past eight years. He was named board president in 2020, and in 2024 became board clerk. He has served on several committees, and as a Director on the Nevada Association of School Boards.

The speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon will be Aaron Sims, Chair of the Rural Nevada Democratic Caucus. In honor of Pride Month, he spoke last Monday about challenges faced by gay people in rural communities. This Monday he will speak about Rural Caucus efforts to engage with progressive-minded individuals in remote parts of the state.

The speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon will be Aaron Sims, Chair of the Rural Nevada Democratic Caucus. As June is Pride Month, Aaron will be talking about the origins of the Pride movement, why it was important that it progressed the way it did, and what it means in today's political environment. He may also lightly cover his own personal coming out story and how it was affected by living in rural communities all his life.

The featured speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon will be Katherine Ramsey, candidate for Assembly District 40, which includes all of Carson City. AD40 incumbent PK O'Neill faces challenger Drew Ribar in the June 11th Republican primary.

The featured speaker at next Monday's Democratic luncheon will be Melanie Bruketta candidate for Carson City Justice of the Peace, Department 2. She is one of three candidates on the June 11 primary ballot. The top two will go on to the November general election.

The featured speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon will be Carson City Mayor Lori Bagwell. Lori began her service on the Board of Supervisors in January, 2015, representing Ward 3, and was elected mayor in 2020. She is currently running for reelection against four other candidates in the June 11 primary. The top two will go on to the November 5th general election.

The featured speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon will be Devan Doan, one of five primary candidates for Mayor of Carson City. Since graduating from UNR in 2014, Devan has made his mark in the renewable energy industry. Early voting for the June 11 primary starts on May 25th and will run through Friday, June 7th. The primary's top two will go on to the November 5th general election.

The featured speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon will be Lisa Schuette, who has held the Ward 4 seat on the Carson City Board of Supervisors since 2021. She is currently seeking reelection to another four year term. In addition to her service on the board, Lisa is also a member of the Audit Committee, the Regional Transportation Commission (RTC), the Carson Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO), the Board of Health, the Redevelopment Authority, the Redevelopment Authority Citizens Committee, and the Parks and Recreation Commission.

Speaking at Monday's Democratic luncheon will be Carson City Clerk-Recorder Scott Hoen. The services provided by the Clerk-Recorder's Office to attorneys, government agencies, the judicial system, and the general public are mandated by the Nevada Constitution and the Nevada Revised Statutes.

Speaking at Monday's Democratic luncheon will be Matt Sampson, Director of Operations at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Nevada. Sampson has been involved with the Boys & Girls Club for more than two decades.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Nevada serve more than 2,500 youth each year in Carson City and the Carson Valley. The club offers youth programming in core areas, including character, leadership, sports, healthy lifestyles, the arts, STEM, and education, offering free tutoring for students after school.

The featured speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon will be Molly Walt, chief executive officer of the Nevada Rural Counties Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), where she is responsible for the overall strategic, fiscal, operational, government and community relations of the organization. She is committed and enthused to lead staff in accomplishing RSVP's mission of providing lifesaving volunteer programs that help seniors maintain their dignity, self-respect and independence.

The featured speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon will be Donna Inversin, a member of the Carson City Open Space Advisory Committee since 2011. She has been a Muscle Powered board member since 2007, and in the years since has served as the group's president, secretary, treasurer, walk leader and trash mob organizer. The Muscle Powered organization works toward a community where walking and biking, for transportation or recreation, is a way of life. They promote creation of pedestrian- and bicycle-friendly infrastructure by developing and maintaining trails and resources.

The featured speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon will be Sheriff Kenny Furlong, the 26th Sheriff to serve Ormsby County/Carson City since 1861, and the 6th Sheriff of the Combined Municipality of the City/County of Carson City.

The featured speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon will be Sandy Severance, Community Engagement Manager for the Alzheimer's Association of Northern Nevada. She will provide an overview of Alzheimer’s disease, dementia more generally, and Alzheimer’s Association services available locally. Topics include the impact of Alzheimer’s, myths and facts, risk factors, the 10 warning signs, and how others can join the fight against the disease.

The featured speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon will be Michelle Rector, Executive Director of Seniors in Service, a non-profit that engages over-55 volunteers in Northern Nevada communities with its Foster Grandparent Program, Senior Companion Program, and Respite Voucher Program.

The featured speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon will be KNVC General Manager Steve Funk. He will tell the story of Carson's community radio station from its humble beginnings in 2017 to today's diverse programmings that includes talk shows, news programs, serial dramas, and music genres that run the gamut from Rock, Pop, Blues and Jazz to Celtic, Retro, and Psychedelic.

The featured speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon will be Carson City Mayor Lori Bagwell. Lori began her service on the Board of Supervisors in January, 2015, representing Ward 3, and was elected mayor in 2020. She is known for her budget expertise, attention to detail on contracts, her compassion for those in need, and most of all her ability to work with others for the mutual benefit of the community.

The featured speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon will be Bryan Bibee, representing Kiwanis International, a service club with chapters in more than 80 countries and geographic areas around the world. Affiliated clubs make up a total of 600,000 members, who raise in excess of $100 million each year and donate 18.5 million volunteer hours in support of important community projects.
