Justice of the Peace candidate to speak at Democratic luncheon
The featured speaker at next Monday's Democratic luncheon will be Melanie Bruketta candidate for Carson City Justice of the Peace, Department 2. She is one of three candidates on the June 11 primary ballot. The top two will go on to the November general election.
A mother of three, Melanie is a graduate of Carson High School, the University of Nevada, Reno, and Gonzaga School of Law. She has practiced both criminal and civil law, serving as a prosecutor and subsequently as Chief Deputy of the Civil Division for the District Attorney’s Office.
Melanie Bruketta is endorsed by former Carson City Library Director Sena Loyd, who writes: "As a nearly-lifelong Carson City resident, Melanie knows what it's like to live, work, and raise a family in this ever-changing community. She is a lawyer who has devoted her career to working for the residents of Carson City. Her passion for this community is apparent to all those who know her. She understands the critical role the local justice court plays in the ongoing safety and health of our community as a whole. Melanie pledges to keep our community safe by being a judge who recognizes the difference between those who commit criminal offenses and those who are in need of other resources."
This luncheon is scheduled for 1:00 PM on Monday, April 29th, and can be attended either in person at Black Bear Diner, inside Max Casino, or online via Zoom. Melanie's presentation will begin after all the lunch orders have been taken, around 1:30. Those wishing to be on distribution for luncheon Zoom links should contact Rich Dunn at richdunn@aol.com.
