August statewide gaming revenue down while Carson City, Tahoe and Reno see increase

Two arrested outside Walmart in Gardnerville after deputies recover stolen vehicle, marijuana

Two from California with warrants were arrested Monday outside the Walmart store in Gardnerville after leading Douglas County Sheriff's Office deputies on a vehicle chase in which the stolen SUV they were driving was abandoned and found to contain 5 pounds of marijuana.

University of Nevada extension educator to leave Carson City post for Douglas County

Lindsay Chichester, extension educator with the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension (UNCE) office in Carson City, will be leaving her position in the Nevada state capital for the extension educator post at the UNCE Douglas County office in Gardnerville.

Carson Valley Medical Center Adds Cardiac Monitoring Service

GARDNERVILLE, Nev. — Carson Valley Medical Center, located at 1107 Highway 395 N in Gardnerville, recently added Holter monitoring services to its EKG department.

The test, which must be ordered by a physician, monitors the patient’s heart rhythm for 24 to 48 hours. The Holter monitor is a small device -- about the size of a pager-- with three electrodes that record the patient’s heart rhythm.

The technicians at CVMC will schedule the patient to come in and have the Holter monitor applied. The monitor is then worn continuously for the period of time indicated by the physician.

$5.2 million in federal funds awarded for Pine View Estates wastewater project

The USDA will provide more than $5 million in a combination of loan and grant funds to construct a wastewater transmission line from the Pine View Estates development south of Gardnerville to the Minden-Gardnerville Sanitation District, said Anne Hazlett Assistant to the Secretary for Rural Development, in an announced Monday.

Carson City Sheriff's arrest log: Man jailed for property destruction at hospital

A 30-year-old Gardnerville man was arrested late Friday night in the 1600 block of Medical Parkway for felony destruction of property resulting in more than $5,000 in damages, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy said.

Smoke from California wildfires and a few thunderstorms are possible Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon and early evening, mainly in the Sierra into portions of the western Nevada Sierra front, according to the National Weather Service.
