Douglas sheriff's involved in high speed pursuit, suspect in custody near Minden Airport

UPDATE 9:05AM: The suspect in last night's pursuit that ended near the Minden Tahoe Airport appears to not be related to the two homicides, according to Douglas County Sheriff Daniel J. Coverley.

A man was taken into custody late Sunday night after leading Douglas County Sheriff’s Office deputies on a high speed pursuit that began in the Dresslerville area between the suspect and Washoe Tribal Police Officers after attempting to serve the suspect a warrant.

WNC names 373 students to Fall dean’s list, one of largest in years

Western Nevada College is proud to announce one of its largest dean’s lists in years. The Fall 2018 Dean’s List includes 373 students, accounting for 31.1 percent of the college’s full-time students.

November gaming revenue among Carson City area casinos climbs by nearly 3.5 percent

Carson City area casinos saw a gaming revenue increase of 3.48 percent in November when compared to the same month a year ago, according to figures released Thursday by the Nevada Gaming Control Board.

Woman arrested Wednesday after stabbing family member last Saturday

A Carson City woman was arrested in the 3700 block of Tuolumne Street on the charges of felony battery with a deadly weapon, felony assault with a deadly weapon, and felony burglary.

On Saturday morning, unites were dispatched to the area in regards to a stabbing that had just occurred. While on route, dispatch advised that a woman reported her brother-in-law’s wife, Stephanie Ross, attacked her with a knife. The woman said she had been stabbed in the hand and that she barricaded herself in the bedroom.

With our recent storms brings ice on some of our surrounding lakes and ponds. I strongly recommend to stay off of the ice, even though our temperatures have plummeted, the ice is very thin and is very dangerous this time of year.

Carson City and Carson Valley area casinos saw a nearly 3.3 percent increase in October gambling revenue compared to the same time last year, according to figures released Tuesday by the Nevada Gaming Control Board.

NDOT: Bike lanes coming to section of Centerville Lane in Gardnerville

Beginning Tuesday, lane closures and detours will be in place on Centerville Lane, State Route 756, near Waterloo Lane in Gardnerville as the Nevada Department of Transportation adds bicycle lanes to the roadway.

Carson City arrests: Jail inmates fight over soap put into drinking cup

Two inmates at Carson City Jail were booked Sunday for felony battery by a prisoner following a fight after an inmate was observed putting soap in a drinking cup, a sheriff’s deputy said.
