Douglas, Washoe County murder suspect postpones Carson City charges, agrees to Reno transfer
Submitted by Kelsey Penrose on Fri, 02/08/2019 - 9:45amOn Friday, Feb. 8, 19-year-old Wilber Ernesto Martinez-Guzman appeared in Carson City Justice Court before Judge Tom Armstrong for his arraignment hearing.
Prosecution prepared a stipulation to transfer Martinez-Guzman to Washoe County to face the more pressing charges of murder. Martinez-Guzman and his attorney agreed.
Martinez-Guzman waived the right to a preliminary hearing within 15 days in order to be transferred to Washoe County.
A pre-trial conference date in Carson City has been set for July 10 for a status check. Martinez-Guzman will not be required to be in attendance for it.

Martinez-Guzman to face preliminary hearing Friday in Carson City
Submitted by Brett Fisher on Tue, 02/05/2019 - 5:32pmWilber Martinez-Guzman, the Carson City man suspected of murdering four people in Reno and Gardnerville, is set for a preliminary hearing at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the Carson City Justice court to face 36 counts of felony weapons charges, burglary charges, possession of stolen items and immigration charges. He also faces murder charges in Washoe County, but a court hearing has not been set yet.
Gardnerville man killed in plane crash was owner of Kim Lee's Sushi in Carson City

The crash in a Yorba Linda, CA, neighborhood killed Pastini and four residents of a home that the aircraft had crashed into.

Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Mon, 01/28/2019 - 4:42pmJudi Mills, 72 years old, passed away Thursday morning on Jan. 24, 2019. She is survived by her husband, Lee, sisters Dixie and Patty, daughter, Sherryl and her son, Gary. Judi was born on Dec. 14, 1946 in Costa Mesa, Calif.
She later moved to Parker, AZ where she would remain until she moved to Gardnerville, Nev., with her daughter. A few years later, she met and married her husband Lee.
She enjoyed hiking, fishing, gardening and following a healthy lifestyle. She was also an exceptional artist, baker and loved to cook. She will be truly missed.

Alleged murder suspect in Gardnerville, Reno homicides appeared in Carson City Justice Court Thursday
Submitted by Kelsey Penrose on Thu, 01/24/2019 - 2:29pmOn Thursday, Jan. 24 19-year-old Wilbur Ernesto Martinez-Guzman made his first court appearance in Carson City Justice Court before Judge Tom Armstrong.
Martinez-Guzman was arrested last Saturday in connection with the four murders which occurred mid January between Gardnerville and South Reno.
However, in Carson City Justice Court Martinez-Guzman faced charges of burglary, obtaining money under false pretenses, possessing several of the victims property including stolen firearms, among other charges.
A total of 36 charges were alleged against Martinez-Guzman in Carson City.

Sheriffs confident man arrested in Carson City responsible for slayings in Reno, Gardnerville

On Saturday, Jan. 19, Wilbur Ernesti Martinez Guzman, 19, who resides in Carson City, was arrested in connection with the murders in Douglas County and Washoe County.
According to Washoe County Sheriff Darin Balaam, law enforcement agencies are confident there is enough evidence to link Guzman to all four homicides.
