Carson Valley sets eyes on Main Street Gardnerville Fall Fest

GARDNERVILLE, Nev. — It wouldn't be fall in the Carson Valley without the annual Scarecrow and Harvest Festival hosted by Main Street Gardens and East Fork Gallery. Or the Annual Slaughterhouse Lane Coffin and Stretcher Races.

This year Main Street Gardnerville has combined all these events into one big festival called Main Street Fall Fest, with more music, activities, demonstrations and vendors at Heritage Park on Saturday, Oct. 6 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The festival is a free community-driven event celebrating the region’s traditions and history as well as showcasing the continued talents, creativity and diversity of its residents. Come join us for activities, demonstrations and performances on the pavilion, arts & crafts, community organizations and businesses.

At the same time across the street at Heritage Park, there will be a flurry of activities including:
Marketplace Shopping at such vendors as LulaRoe, Teddy 'N' Friendz, doTerra, Princess House, Carrillo Leather and Steel, Spur View Goods, K2 Designs, She's Crafty, 2 Little Poppies Macaela Made and more.

Stretcher Races: Bring your own stuffed animal, zombie or build your own scarecrow and stretcher the day of the festival to enter into the Zombie Stretcher races for children ages 15 and under.

Scarecrow Building: Build your own scarecrow with the help of the Artisans from East Fork Gallery. Clothing, hats, braids, faces, straw, newspaper and the entire kit needed to build a scarecrow is available for $15 per scarecrow.

Entertainment: Dance Workshop, Washoe Tribes of Nevada and California, Aerial Art Performance, Basque Dancing and more.

Heritage Park Gardens will be celebrating its 7th annual Fall Harvest Festival with fun activities for the whole family. Activities will include:
— Garden Goodies for sale
— Pumpkin raffle - every kid gets a ticket and we draw for the winner every half hour starting at 9:30.
— Hall's Honey teaching bee hive - in the Children's Garden.
— Scavenger Hunt with an apple as a reward for finishing.
— Critters in the Corn: Come look for your critter, 85 painted critter rocks, in the corn.
— Sachet bags: Make your own lavender sachet.
— Ghost pops: children are invited to make their own ghost pop craft.
— Pumpkin rocks: Pre-painted orange rocks the kids decorate as jack-o-lanterns with black marker.
— Leave Your Mark: Kids can put their painted hand prints on the side of the shed.
— Garden Tips: Tour the garden and get gardening tips from our gardeners
— Chess and Checkers: Challenge you family to an extra-large game of Chess or Checkers
