Carson City Events and Happenings for Saturday, Feb. 1
Happy Saturday Carson City, and say hello to February! That means Spring must be right around the corner! I hope so at least, because Friday’s beautiful weather was enough to make me ready to say goodbye to father winter.
We’ve got a jam packed list of events throughout the weekend, including February’s wine walk happening today!

Saturday, February 1
— Guided snowshoe hikes with a ranger on the Carson Ranger District. 10 a.m. at Tahoe Meadows, one mile southwest of the summit of Nevada State Route 431 Mt. Rose Highway. The Carson Ranger District on the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest is pleased to announce the return of the popular Forest Ranger-led snowshoe walks. The walks begin this Saturday, Jan. 25, and will be offered every Saturday through March 28.
— Gilded Hearts and other possibilities at the Brewery Arts Center. 10 a.m. at 449 W. King St. Learn a new technique for creating the look of Gold Leaf Gilding. In this class we will use simple materials to create the look of dimensional gold leaf. Then we will tangle and embellish for glimmering results that you will love! Just in time for Valentine’s Day!
— Valentine Cooking Decorating Class. 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Carson Valley Museum and Cultural Center, 1477 U.S. Hwy 395 in Gardnerville. Learn the tips and tricks for creating fantastic Valentine Day Cookies your whole family can enjoy. This class is designed for adults and teens. Material Fee is $10.00; DCHS Members are $5.00
— Paws 4 Love Therapy Dogs. 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Carson City Library, 900 N. Roop St. Join Paws 4 Love and read with friendly and attentive therapy dogs! These gentle dogs will lend an ear to beginner readers and provide support as children improve their reading skills. Registration is encouraged. Participants 9 and under must be accompanied by a caregiver of at least 13 years of age at all times.
— Nevada State Railroad Museum Rocks. 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 2180 S. Carson St. Leave your mark and follow your rocks! Kids of all ages and kids at heart are invited to join us on February 1st at 11am for some rock painting fun! Rocks and paint provided by us! Take your rock home or leave it somewhere in the area because on the back will be added to our Facebook page and ask the finder to post a picture so you can follow it wherever it may go!
— Coin Press Demonstrations at the Nevada State Museum. 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 600 N. Carson St. Every Friday and Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. we hold historic Coin Press No. 1 demonstrations in the 150 year old Carson City Mint building. If they wish, visitors may purchase a planchet (coin blank) in the Museum Store and bring it to the Coin Press No. 1 gallery to have it minted just for them.
— February Monthly Wine Walk. 1 to 5 p.m. in downtown Carson City. The Downtown Wine Walk is a must not miss! Held the First Saturday of every month. For just $15 you’ll receive a commemorative wine glass and endless reasons to stroll through Downtown sipping and tasting the afternoon away. Bring your wine walk glass with the Carson City Logo on it and pay only $12. You can purchase tickets at the following locations: The Carson Nugget, Cactus Jack’s, Carson Jewelry and Loan, Bella Fiore, and Touched by Angels.
— Mangjia Tutto presents Mary Law. 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at 200 N. Stewart St. Enjoy an evening of Italian cuisine, wine and live music from harpist Mary Law at Mangia Tutto in downtown Carson City.. Reserve a table by calling 775-461-3353.
— A to Zen Presents: True Leaf and Weslemmon. 7 to 9 p.m. at 1803 N. Carson St. True Leaf and Weslemmon are joining together and sharing the stage at A to Zen for a night of great local music!
— Rock N' Bowl Saturday at Carson Lanes Family Fun Center. 7 to 11 p.m. at 4600 Snyder Ave. Have your own bowling party w/ Family & Friends! We turn up the tunes & turn on the party lights every Friday and Saturday. Great discount for groups of 10 or more. We have 3 Restaurants to choose from along w/ a full Bar, Slot Machines, Classic Billiards & an Arcade! — Karaoke on Saturdays featured at Y-NOT Saloon. 8 to 11 p.m. at 152 E. Long St. Saturday night karaoke at the Y-NOT Saloon 152 E. Long St. in Carson City. Karaoke by Jeff Stevens from 8 to 11 p.m. come one come all come sing and have a great time.
— Saturday Night at Living the Good Life. 8 to 11 p.m. at 1480 N. Carson St. Come out and have some fun Carson City! There will be plenty of music, food, drinks and entertainment to keep the party going all night long.
— Black Rose to perform at Max Casino. 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. at 900 S. Carson St. Come on out to Max's Casino for a great night of the classic rock and roll you sing along to in your car every day, brought to you live and in color by Black Rose.
— Deception set to Rock the Carson Nugget. 9 p.m. at 507 N. Carson St. Join us in Carl’s Living Room at the Loft in the Carson Nugget on Saturday! There will be live music all night long so come on down.
Sunday, February 2
— Muscle Powered Sunday Bicycle Ride. 9 a.m. Meet at Fremont Elementary School in the South parking lot next to the Linear Ditch Trail. All riders must have a bicycle in safe working condition, a helmet, and closed toed shoes.
— Nevada Artists Association New Year's Show. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 449 W. King St. NAA presents its New Year's Show with 124 entries by member artists. Additionally, water colorist, Melanie Walters and potter, Nancy Brownrigg are our Featured Artists and have their exhibits on the back wall of the Gallery. These shows run through February 14. The Gallery is located at 449 W. King Street and is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. everyday except Monday. — Italian Cooking Class at Sierra Chef. 1 to 3 p.m. at 2292 Main Street Suites 3 and 4 in Genoa. Take a trip and taste the delicious tastes of Italy during a cooking class with Sierra Chef. $55 per person, please arrive on time for class.
— Mixed Media Paint Class in Dayton. 1 to 5 p.m. at Mark Twain Community Center, 500 Sam Clemens Ave. Meet Holly The Horse and join us as we paint Holly the Horse during a mixed media painting class Feb. 2 in Dayton. Holly the Horse is a 16 X 20 painting and it will take approximately 3 hours to paint. We’ll be using acrylics. We will have refreshments during a couple of drying times. If you would like to bring a covered dish to share, please do or, feel free to bring your own light snack. Suitable for ages 12 and up.
— Super Bowl Bash at Just Brew It. 2:30 p.m. at 1214 N. Carson St. Come and watch the game with us! There will be plenty of fun and action going on throughout the game that you don’t want to miss!
— Super Bowl Party at Jimmy G's. 3 p.m. at 301 N. Carson St. Enjoy the big game with Super Bowl fun at Jimmy G’s on Sunday. Drink specials, games and a pot luck will be available throughout the game.
— Healthy Cooking Classes. 5 p.m. at Carson City Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 405 College Pkwy. Healthy Cooking Classes begin again Sunday, October 6, at 5pm, with Hearty Soups and Salads, perfect for the start of Fall weather! The sessions are scheduled for the first Sunday of every month.
