Douglas County to host annual flood awareness workshop
Douglas County invites residents to an educational flood awareness workshop to discuss flood preparedness and current flood control projects.
The workshop will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2024, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Dining Room at the Douglas County Community and Senior Center, located at 1329 Waterloo Lane in Gardnerville, Nevada. The event falls during Nevada Flood Awareness Week, which takes place Nov. 10-16, 2024.
With flood season approaching, the flood awareness event will provide critical information to help residents and local businesses prepare for potential flooding events. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn directly from experts, including representatives from Douglas County Stormwater Management and other key agencies.

“We encourage the community to join us to learn more about flood preparedness and the proactive measures we are taking,” said Courtney Walker, Douglas County Stormwater Program Manager. “Our aim is to equip residents with the knowledge and resources they need to stay safe and prepared during flood season.”
