Bowling is back at the Carson Lanes Family Fun Center and Gold Dust West Casino in Carson City.

Under the new provisions from the Nevada Gaming Commission, bowling alleys have instituted safety measures to keep families and guests safe. These safety measures include maximum lane capacity and sanitization of all equipment.

Here is a partial list of local restaurants that are offering take out and/or delivery during the COVID-19 shutdown. We will be adding more soon. Heading into the weekend, there’s an abundance of activities around the capital city region over the next three days. The Brewery Arts Center hosts a female version of "The Odd Couple." Carson City's Greenhouse Project is hosting a lunch and dinner fundraiser toward a healthier State Capitol. Dale Poune will perform at Bella Vita Bistro, plus comedy at the Carson Nugget, the Nevada Caucus on Saturday, an open house at the historic Foreman-Roberts House, a Latin-themed concert at the community center and more. Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of events around the Carson City region over the next three days. Dozens of sweets are in store for Saturday. The American Association of University Women holds its 20th annual Feast of Chocolate at the Carson Plaza and Event Center. Artsy Fartsy Gallery hosts its 9th annual Jewelry and Chocolate Show with several new decorative pieces. To cap-off Saturday, the legendary Cab Calloway Orchestra makes its way to the capital city.

Happy Saturday Carson City, and say hello to February! That means Spring must be right around the corner! I hope so at least, because Friday’s beautiful weather was enough to make me ready to say goodbye to father winter.

Saturday, February 1

Heading into the Super Bowl weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include the monthly downtown Carson City wine walk, plus karaoke at Bella Vita Bistro and Y-NOT Saloon. The Forest Service begins its first “Ski With a Ranger” at Lake Tahoe’s Heavenly Mountain Resort on Friday. Combined with championship football festivities on Sunday, the Silver State is in store for a wild, good time.

Saturday, January 25

Heading into the last weekend of January there’s a mountain of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include a Chinese New Year Celebration at the Nevada State Museum and the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada. The Carson Comedy Club hosts its first Military Appreciation Night on Friday at the Carson Nugget. Carson Valley’s 18th annual Eagles and AG Photo Contest will be underway and live music will keep the Silver State buzzing with excitement. Read on for more information.

Hello Carson City! Are we excited for the parade yet? I know I am! We’re only a few days away now, so take a gander below to find the parade line up and parade categories.

Following are all of the entries for the 2018 Nevada Day Parade, to take place on Saturday, Oct. 27 starting at 10 a.m. The parade starts at North Carson and William streets, and ends at South Carson and Stewart streets. There are 215 entries in this year's parade.

Saturday is recognized nationwide as National Ghost Hunting Day as well as Nevada Public Lands Day statewide. Odd as it may seem, the two can be combined at haunts around Nevada.

Join the Freaks of Nature Car and Truck Club at a car show fundraiser this Saturday, Sept. 22 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in front of Johnny Rockets at Carson Lanes, 4600 Snyder Avenue, in South Carson City.

Karson Kruzers Show-n-Shine car show will be at Johnny Rockets on September 29th, 2018 from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm. Open to all makes, models and years. Free with fun awards. Info: (775) 883-0927.

It was a windy car show, but we had 78 cars that didn't get blown away. Thank you to Johnny Rockets to be our host for this show. They actually did two shows with wind both times and a good turnout. Thank you again. Bill B.

Summer heat is in full effect and with thunderstorms threatening the Sierra, wildfires are even more likely. Luckily, you’ll find some ways to entertain the kids without having to head outdoors. Head down for family story time at the Carson City Library with the young ones; older kids will want to check out the weekly Lego Club this afternoon. The Rally Route 50 West automotive scavenger hunt and race comes to an end this evening in McFadden Plaza with an announcement of the winners. Summertime Cruise Nights continue with this week’s meet-up at Johnny Rockets.

Let's cruise Carson City. The next Thursday Night Cruise is June 21 at Bully's Sports Bar in Carson City from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Earlier this month, on Thursday, June 7 there were 98 cars, and on June 14, 75 cars.

Thank you Max Casino and Johnny Rockets for supporting the Thursday Night Cruise. Also a big thank you for all the vehicles of all kinds, make and models and the spectators who came and enjoyed the show.

She’s a grand ole flag, and there will be two ceremonies to recognize the stars and stripes in Carson City today. At 10 a.m. you can join the Nevada National Guard at the Veterans Memorial on the Capitol Grounds for presentation of the colors, speakers, and even cake for the US Army’s anniversary. You’ll find the Elks Club honoring our flag at 3 p.m. The public are invited to both events. The Army isn’t the only birthday you’ll find today; Artsy Fartsy Art Gallery celebrates its seventh year with an artist reception and new work from Denise Jenkins.

This week we'll be at Johnny Rockets on South Carson Street starting at 5 p.m. and going until 7:30 p.m. Bring your car or truck and show it off. Last Thursday at Max's Casino we had 98 good looking cars and trucks. This is a free show for all, come and enjoy the show.

It’s going to be a chili weekend, and that has nothing to do with the weather. The annual Chili on the Comstock Competition takes over the tiny town of Virginia City, including a saloon crawl Saturday and the hilarious ‘Fun with the Runs’ 5K. Families will have a hard time choosing between the Cops and Kids Open House and Safety Fair at the Sheriff’s Office and the ‘Kids to Parks’ Day activities at Silver Saddle Ranch. Keep reading, and I apologize in advance for throwing so many great options your way.

Free "orphan" car show on Saturday May 19 9am-3pm at Carson City Johnny Rocket's located atHighway 395 and Snyder St. (775) 883-2607. All "orphan" cars are invited, which means all car makes that are no longer manufactured. Sponsored by The Northern Nevada Chapter of Packard's International.

Here is an updated parade list for all the entries in the Nevada Day Parade on Saturday. Note, there was a last-minute change in streets where the entries are supposed to line up that is different than the printed program. The change was made to accommodate some larger floats. The Carson High School HOSA, Future Health Professionals had a Health Career Display Competition with 34 teams from 3 Health Science II classes. Each was judged on the display board’s information, artistic value and originality as well as a 5 minute oral presentation.

One might think that the end of summer means that the fun times are over: they would be wrong. This list of happenings in the Carson City area isn’t getting any shorter. The annual Genoa Candy Dance is a favorite among locals and visitors alike, and this weekend welcomes the first ever Silver State Arts Festival at Fuji Park, as well. The first ever Community Garage Sale at the Community Center offers one-stop bargain hunting. Swing into the season at the monthly dance party hosted by the High Sierra Swing Dance Club.

On April 12th, 2017, Heavenly Nickell-Schwichtenberg lost her life in a tragic car accident. She left behind her 4 beautiful children, ages 4, 6, 8 and 10. Come join us for a celebration of her life and help us raise money for the kids, who are currently in the care of different family members.
