Record Turnout for Nevada Artists Association Carson City Photography Exhibit

A judged event, local and regional artists were invited to enter two photos for display in the NAA Gallery exhibit which opened Sunday, August 6, and which will run through Sept. 8, 2017.

You have one last chance to catch their fairytale, ‘Into the Woods, Jr.’ before it heads off to Neverland. The Brewery Arts Center plays host to a plethora of Jazz and Beyond today. Don't miss the final day of hot rods and chrome at the Silver Dollar Car Classic in Mills Park. Exercise your artistic talent and play with some mud at Ogres-Holm Pottery where they will be creating bowls for the upcoming Empty Bowls event.

Jazz and Beyond Carson City harmonica events Sunday moved to BAC Performance Hall
Submitted by editor on Sun, 08/06/2017 - 4:20amDue to expected inclement weather, all three harmonica events today, Sunday, Aug. 6, will be held in the Brewery Arts Center (BAC) Performance Hall. The Red Tango performance will still be in the BAC Ballroom from 1 to 3 p.m. as planned. These are all part of the Jazz and Beyond Music Festival.
Levitt AMP concert moved indoors
Submitted by Brett Fisher on Sat, 08/05/2017 - 6:34pmOrganizers of the weekly Levitt AMP Carson City Concert Series have moved Saturday's venue from the Minnesota Street Stage to inside the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall due to thunderstorms and rain showers moving through the area this evening.
Tonight's music, featuring the sounds of Thee Commons as opener and Whatitdo as headline act, will play as scheduled until 10 p.m.
Carson City actor returns home for local premier of first feature film starring role

Start the day at the Silver Dollar Car Classic and you can get your fill of shiny chrome and breakfast, too; the Kiwanis will be serving up pancakes until 10:30 a.m. The Downtown Carson City Wine Walk has been infiltrated by the Jazz and Beyond Music Festival. Several of the stops will be hosting musicians, in addition to vino.

Major William Mathew Ormsby was born in 1814 in Mercer County, Pennsylvania. Ormsby was a teamster, failed horse dealer, citizen at large, visionary and one of the most important figures in the founding of Nevada and its capitol, Carson City. He was killed in 1860 during the Pyramid Lake Paiute uprising.
