Carson High School Performing Arts is proud to announce our upcoming production of "Godspell," the iconic and inspiring Broadway musical by three time Grammy and Academy Award winner, Stephen Schwartz, this Thursday through Saturday, April 13-15 at the Carson City Community Center.

The Carson Artrepreneurs Workshop has added five seats and extended its deadline for applications to April 17. The series of four classes will be held on Wednesday nights May 3-24, from 5:30-8:30 p.m., in several venues in Carson City, including the Nevada State Museum, Brewery Arts Center, and the Studio at Adams Hub for innovation.

For 16 years, Mile High Jazz Band has been playing at Comma Coffee, 312 S. Carson Street, on the second Tuesday of every month. Come celebrate this milestone with us on Tuesday, April 11. Hear sensational big-band music with vocalist Cindee LeVal and enjoy anniversary cake at intermission.

Weed is more or less legal in Nevada and we’re celebrating with a post 4/20 wrap-up at the BAC monthly comedy showcase! Some of northern Nevada’s best stand-up comedians and story-tellers are gathering to talk about their strange and hilarious tells with pot.

The train will depart the depot in Carson City at 10 a.m. arrive in Virginia City about 11:15 a.m. you will then be shuttled up to the opera house, lunch is from noon to 1 p.m. and the concert will start at 1:30 p.m., you will then be shuttled back to the train depot for the ride back to Carson City.

SATURDAY:

Join us Saturday night for a triple bill of fantastic music and entertainment as we bring you some of Carson's best local talent. Headlining will be Wildhorse Epidemic, playing new, old and original rock and roll.

These guys have been rocking the scene for the last couple of years and are gaining a huge following. Opening the night will be Wendy Revers, just up from southern California.

Join us for the first annual Spring Faire at Fuji Park in Carson City on April 15, 10 a.m. This is a free event open to the public. We are raising money for the Esperanza Foundation to help Vets with healing and for the Littlest Things that do Kindness events with animals and more for the community.

Fuji Park is located at 601 Old Clear Creek Road in Carson City.

Head on up to Stateline and Lakeside Inn and Casino Lake Tahoe for our "Country Night" party in The Tavern and enjoy great drink specials all night! The Cash Only band will get the party rolling at 9 p.m.

For the adventurous type, we will have a mechanical bull to test your cowboy skills from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. The first 50 women to ride the bull get a free cowboy hat. Put on your boots and cowboy up!

On Saturday, April 8 at 7 p.m. in the MHJ Black Box Theater, Brewery Arts Center continues the Celtic Music series with Richard Johnson. A ballad singer and a lifelong guitarist, Richard loves songs from the American and Irish traditions, the classic melodies of the 40’s, songs from his own generation and his own original songs.

Paint outdoors on the first Saturday of each month from 10:00am - 1:00pm, in this Brewery Arts Center class. Each fun and exciting class gives encouragement and support as you create art in the ever changing outdoor environment.

Free Range Drawing is offered by the Brewery Arts Center 449 W King St. in Carson City, Tuesdays from 10:00 - 1:00.

This 6 week class allows for students of all levels to draw in a variety of locations with as little or as much instruction as needed. Whether you’re experienced or new to drawing, classes will be adaptive based on your needs. You will learn and improve skills in line, value, perspective, composition, and more. 

Drawing locations vary and will be outdoors whenever possible.

The Brewery Arts Center, 449 W King St, is offering this fun and exciting 8 week class, Mondays beginning April 17 from 1:00-4:00. It is designed for beginning as well as more experienced students.

You will learn techniques in creating non-functional ceramics as you learn to use clay to build artistic sculptures. Projects will include instruction in a wide range of sculpting methods. You will be exposed to concepts such as composition, weight, color, form, and texture while creating contemporary pieces and beautiful three dimensional ceramic art.

The ninth annual Concert Under the Stars, A Benefit for The Greenhouse Project featuring The Family Stone and Lydia Pense and Cold Blood, takes place Wednesday, July 12 at the Brewery Arts Center, 449 W. King St., Carson City, Nev.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of Sly & The Family Stone, and the 10th year of the The Greenhouse Project operations.

Actor, Comedian Kevin Farley will be appearing at the Carson Comedy Club, inside the Carson Nugget in Carson City for two shows on Friday, April 7 at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. Farley is the main event at the Carson Nugget during a weekend packed with live entertainment.

GRAMMY® winner Chris Tomlin continues to bring the church together in unity and prayer through his nationwide Worship Night In America Tour. Featuring Chris Tomlin, Big Daddy Weave, Phil Wickham, Zach Williams, Mosaic MSC and Jason Barton, the tour is set to come to the Reno Event Center on Saturday, April 29 at 7:00 PM.

Community Chest, Inc. is proud to present multi-Grammy-winning singer/songwriter Rodney Crowell to the Piper’s stage! The 8th Annual “A Night to Imagine” benefit show will be held on April 14, doors open at 7:30 inside the historic Piper’s Opera House in Virginia City.

An intimate musical experience with the autoharp virtuoso Bryan Bowers will be held at the Brewery Arts Center in Carson City on Friday, April 14.

Credited with introducing the instrument to new generations of musicians, Bryan Bowers is to the autoharp what Earl Scruggs was to the five-string banjo. He’s played with The Dillards, Sam Bush, Curtis Burch, and Courtney Johnson of the ground-breaking New Grass Revival.

I’m hoping that April brings more than just showers. Not that I don’t love the spring flowers, but I’m really ready for some sunshine. Start off the month with a clean kitchen: let the Elks Club take care of breakfast. Grab your guitar, tambourine, ukulele, or vocal chords and join the A to Zen Music Jam. Head ‘North by Northwest’ at the Galaxy Theater. The classic thriller is on the big screen at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.

SUNDAY:

Join Artsy Fartsy Art Gallery for a entire day focusing on adding a bit of art to your yard. Local artists such as Angie Fluitt, Derick McClure, Kathleen Hallamore, Jean Kvam, and Lauri Christine will enchant you with their unique one-of-a-kind creations. The day will offer artwork ranging from wood carvings, pottery, chimes, repurposed art, and so much more. Drop by and meet some of the local artists, while supporting "YOUR LOCAL ART GALLERY".

Veteran roots music producer, songwriter, and performer Gurf Morlix is touring the country in support of his new release, ‘The Soul and The Heal.’ He plays a CD release show at the Silver City School House in Silver City, Nev., on Thursday, April 13.

Couples Workshop - Salsa & Cha Cha will be held Saturday April 8th 5:30 - 7:30 pm. Cha Cha and Salsa are cousins. They have the same moves but like to have a different timing. The great thing is that this helps up to learn 2 dances faster and be able to be out on the floor longer. We will start with Salsa for the 1st hr and then finish up with Cha Cha.

Yale's Ballroom in Carson City offers 4 Weeks of Waltz: Wed. April 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th from 7:30 PM - 8:45 PM. Waltz Group Class for everyone!
This is one of the best dances to start learning couples dancing. It is great for connection, weddings, enjoying a slow dance together or going out to dance. We will start with the basics and work our way up from "The Box Step."

We invite children and families to experience our new IMAGINATIONS Children's Art Program. This program is designed to offer children a variety of art classes taught by professional art instructors as well as offer family retreats to create artwork together. Our Saturday Art Classes are held once each month with each teaching a different topic or discipline.

June 24th - FUNdamentals of Color: Giant Pinwheels (ages 7-12)

The final day of March arrives on a Friday and that means full steam ahead with laughs at the Carson Comedy Club in Carson City with special guest Las Vegas comedy favorite Kathleen Dunbar.
