In and Around the Great Basin: Recent Plein Air Paintings from Erik Holland will be open to public viewing at the Rinckel Mansion throughout July.

The show opens with a reception to meet the artist Friday, July 7 (1–6 pm) and Saturday, July 8, (9 am - 6 pm). The show will hang through the end of July and be open to the public during business hours. This also affords an opportunity to see the beautifully restored Rinckel Mansion, one of Carson City's grand historic buildings.

Building on its June “Mozart in the Mountains” Summer MusicFest kickoff series, TOCCATA-Tahoe Symphony Orchestra will continue its 21-concert Summer MusicFest with TOCCATA BOPS, featuring Best of Broadway, Opera hits, Pops and Patriotic selections. Join us at Corpus Christi Church, Wednesday, July 5 at 7:00pm in Carson City (3597 N. Sunridge Dr.).

Author Todd Borg will speak on his “Owen McKenna Mystery Thrillers” on Saturday, July 8, 10 a.m. at the Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park. This event is free.

Doug Watson will portray legendary humorist “Will Rogers”, at the Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park on Wednesday, July 12, at 6:30 pm.

For more than 50 years, Lydia Pense has been delighting audiences with her brand of rhythm and blues. She, with her band Cold Blood, opens for The Family Stone, Wednesday, July 12 at Concert Under the Stars, A Benefit for The Greenhouse Project, at Brewery Arts Center in Carson City.

It’s wine walk weekend, and depending on what kinds of days off you get, potentially the beginning of a four-day weekend. We will be celebrating the birthday of the United States of America on Tuesday, but there are some fun events to enjoy now. 2017 is the 25th year RSVP will host the July 4th Celebration and Carnival in Mills Park. A winner of the Carson City Chamber of Commerce 2016 Event of the Year - once again, we expect both local residents and the many visitors to our area to join us for live music, great food and craft vendors, and the excitement of carnival rides and games designed for all ages!

Fourth of July celebrations abound in the Carson City area. Fireworks can be found in Carson City, Virginia City, Reno, Sparks, and at both north and south shore of Lake Tahoe. There are several daytime events going on, so grab the kids, friends, and family and have a great four-day Independence Day weekend!

The Brewery Arts Center will continues an unforgettable season of free concerts under the stars in Carson City! this Saturday. Having started out strong last week with Big Bad VooDoo Daddy, the great music continues with The Novelists and Athena McIntyre.

Celebrate Independence Day with the Carson City Symphony, Carson City Symphony Chorus, and guest singer CeCe Gable at Mormon Station State Park in Genoa. Parade, festivities, five bands, games, old-time jams, chicken dinners, raffles, and more begin at 10 a.m.

The Carson Valley Pops Orchestra is bringing back their traditional July Fourth Concert in the Park.

Set for 11:30 a.m. at Heritage Park in Gardnerville, right after the Gardnerville Fun Run, this free concert is an ideal way for families to celebrate the Fourth in an old fashioned, small town setting. Bring your picinic and a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy the patriotic line up of traditional July Fourth tunes.

Local Freshies, in association with Patagonia, will host a premiere of Finding Fontinalis at South Lake Brewing Company (1920 Lake Tahoe Blvd, South Lake Tahoe) on Thursday July 6. Doors open at 6 p.m. and show starts at 8 p.m. for this free all ages event.

The Carson City Symphony Association presents an elegant evening of music, wine, and dessert on Sunday, July 9, 2017, at 7 p.m. at a private home, 2662 Danielle Drive in Carson City. The house recital features Latin Tres — Vanessa Porter, violin; Marina Rosznitovsky Oster, harp; and Alejandro Pinzón, bandoneon — performing new arrangements of traditional Latin American music.

The Nevada Artists Association opens its "Sprit of America" art exhibit that will be on display now through August 4. The NAA's gallery is located at Carson City's Brewery Arts Center.

The Carson City Classic Cinema Club presents 'Three Came Home' starring Claudette Colbert on July 5 at the Brewery Arts Center.

Reno band The Sextones will perform funk and soul at the Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park at 6:30 pm on Thursday, June 29.

Margaret Maatala has been drawing since she was a little girl, and is self-taught. Sometimes as a child she would just sit alone and draw characters from books she read, as art was always her passion.

While raising her family, she began creating special greeting cards for friends and family, eventually starting a cottage business where she would design and produce those cards, under the name Maggie M’s Original Creation.

Young Chautauquans will present “People Who United the States” at the Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park on Wednesday, June 28, at 6:30 pm.

The Douglas County Historical Society's Young Chautauqua Program presenters are 15 year old Jahmila Santiago as “Sarah Winnemucca”, 15 year old Sandia Johnson as “Abigail Fillmore”, 6 year old Sam Johnson as “John Muir”, 10 year old Micaiah Maulis as “Thomas Edison” and 9 year old Mamre Maulis as “John Glen”.

Steve Hale will portray the legendary mailman of the Sierra, Jon A. “Snowshoe Thompson, at the Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park on Wednesday, June 21, at 6:30 pm.

When Jon Thompson put on his 8-foot skis and heavy leather mail pack in 1856, he skied to Genoa and into history. His two to three day 90-mile crossings (one way) carrying the mail and valuable packages of up to 100 pounds on his back through the snow have never been physically duplicated, not even with modern equipment. This extraordinary feat has become part of the legacy and spirit of the pioneer American West.
