Sunday, August 6: Events and happenings around Carson City and beyond
Once upon a time the talented kids of Youth Theater Carson City took to the Community Center stage. You have one last chance to catch their fairytale, ‘Into the Woods, Jr.’ before it heads off to Neverland. The Brewery Arts Center plays host to a plethora of Jazz and Beyond today. Don't miss the final day of hot rods and chrome at the Silver Dollar Car Classic in Mills Park. Exercise your artistic talent and play with some mud at Ogres-Holm Pottery where they will be creating bowls for the upcoming Empty Bowls event.

- -- Family Day at Empire Ranch Golf Course (Kids play free with paid adult green fee, one for one)
- -- Breakfast and Bowling at Carson Lanes (breakfast served 7:30am-11am, unlimited bowling 9am-12pm; $13, $8 kids 8 and younger)
- -- 22nd Annual Silver Dollar Car Classic at Mills Park (8am-3pm show and shine, music, and vendors; Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast 8am-10:30am; Poker Run 8am-12pm; BBQ 11am-1pm; Awards 1pm)
- -- First Sunday Breakfast at the Elks Club: 515 N Nevada (bar opens 8am, breakfast 8:30am-11am; $8)
- -- Muscle Powered Weekly Bike Ride - Meet in the south parking lot of Fremont Elementary School, next to the Linear Ditch Trail (meet at 8am; consists of two loops 10-15 miles long each, this will allow a rider to do 10-15 miles or 20-30 miles; ride pace will vary depending on rider level, but usually about 12-16 mph; All riders must have a bicycle in safe working condition, helmet, and closed toed shoes. - -- Virginia and Truckee Round-trip Steam Train Rides: leave from Carson City Eastgate Depot: on Flint Drive, off U.S. Highway 50 East (Depart Carson City 10am, please arrive 30 minutes early - Depart Virginia City 3pm; $52, seniors and veterans $48, kids 3-16 $32; tickets limited, available online HERE)
- -- Photography and Regular Art Show in the Nevada Artists Association Gallery at the Brewery Arts Center (10am-4pm)

- -- Carson and Mills Park Railroad Train Rides around Mills Park (train runs every half hour 12pm-5pm; tickets $2 per person or three rides for $5, children two and under are free; hosted by the Carson City Railroad Association)
- -- Jazz and Beyond at the Brewery Art Center: 1pm-3pm Red Tango in the Ballroom; 3:30pm-6pm Hohner Road Show with special guest Harmonicist Ronnie Shellist in the Performance Hall - the show is a mix of performance, teaching, and demonstration. It includes displays, harmonica giveaways, and hands-on instructional components; Due to expected inclement weather, all three harmonica events today, Sunday, Aug. 6, will be held in the Brewery Arts Center (BAC) Performance Hall. The Red Tango performance will still be in the BAC Ballroom from 1 to 3 p.m. as planned. These are all part of the Jazz and Beyond Music Festival.
The original plan was to have the Hohner Harmonica Roadshow in Performance Hall from 3:30 to 6 p.m. That has not changed.
The performance by Tom Stryker's Impromptu from 7 to 8 p.m. and by the Ronnie Shellist Blues Band from 8:15 to 9:15 p.m. were originally scheduled for BAC Minnesota Street Stage.
Don’t let anyone accuse you of losing that loving feeling. Top Gun on the big screen is the perfect date for the nostalgic. Join Goose and Maverick in their high-flying hi-jinx, and don’t forget the popcorn.
