The valley is alive with the sound of music: the Jazz and Beyond Music Festival, to be specific. Just about everywhere you go, you’ll be treated to something to soothe the soul or get the toes tapping. Get the kids up early for the Young Eagle Flights at the Carson City Airport – they’re free, but you need to be on time for registration. A professional actress, you can see her as the new recurring character New Fiona on Shameless Season 7. She will be seen in the feature Shattered, release date 2017. She costars in a feature film Creative Differences. Was a featured mom commentator on The Mom Rules webseries and did the pilot, for Nickelodeons new network, NickMOM called road mamas which she also co-created. You can also see her comic acting regularly and various sketches for CONAN.

Record Turnout for Nevada Artists Association Carson City Photography Exhibit

The Nevada Artists Association has received a record number of entries for it's annual photo exhibition in Carson City.
A judged event, local and regional artists were invited to enter two photos for display in the NAA Gallery exhibit which opened Sunday, August 6, and which will run through Sept. 8, 2017.

Once upon a time the talented kids of Youth Theater Carson City took to the Community Center stage. You have one last chance to catch their fairytale, ‘Into the Woods, Jr.’ before it heads off to Neverland. The Brewery Arts Center plays host to a plethora of Jazz and Beyond today. Don't miss the final day of hot rods and chrome at the Silver Dollar Car Classic in Mills Park. Exercise your artistic talent and play with some mud at Ogres-Holm Pottery where they will be creating bowls for the upcoming Empty Bowls event.

Due to expected inclement weather, all three harmonica events today, Sunday, Aug. 6, will be held in the Brewery Arts Center (BAC) Performance Hall. The Red Tango performance will still be in the BAC Ballroom from 1 to 3 p.m. as planned. These are all part of the Jazz and Beyond Music Festival.
Levitt AMP concert moved indoors

Tonight's music, featuring the sounds of Thee Commons as opener and Whatitdo as headline act, will play as scheduled until 10 p.m.
Carson City actor returns home for local premier of first feature film starring role

Carson City native Grant Davis, 20, stars in the musical film, "Something Like Summer," the award-winning new movie that has won raves on the 2017 film festival circuit, including prominent engagements in Sydney, Australia; Rio De Janeiro, Brazil; Los Angeles, San Diego, Philadelphia and Miami.

Nevada artists Paul Ford and Dennis Hinton, whose “Environmental Perspective” exhibit has been displayed at the Nevada Arts Council’s OXS Gallery since June, will take part in an artists’ reception and talk on Tuesday, Aug. 8.

Summer weekends make me wish I had a clone. With all the hustle and bustle in town, there is just no way to do and see it all. Start the day at the Silver Dollar Car Classic and you can get your fill of shiny chrome and breakfast, too; the Kiwanis will be serving up pancakes until 10:30 a.m. The Downtown Carson City Wine Walk has been infiltrated by the Jazz and Beyond Music Festival. Several of the stops will be hosting musicians, in addition to vino.

August 9, 2017 - 6:30pm In a one man show, Chris Bayer will portray both Major William Ormsby and Lucky Bill Thorington in “The Major and the Gambler” at Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park on Wednesday, August 9, at 6:30 pm.
Major William Mathew Ormsby was born in 1814 in Mercer County, Pennsylvania. Ormsby was a teamster, failed horse dealer, citizen at large, visionary and one of the most important figures in the founding of Nevada and its capitol, Carson City. He was killed in 1860 during the Pyramid Lake Paiute uprising.

On the first day, students will "play" with color and other watercolor supplies to learn technique. On the second day, we will paint from a beautiful flower bouquet and/or photos. Lunch provided.
