Sunday, Oct. 9: Things to do around Carson City
Sundays are a great time for relaxing, but you’ve got some options around town just the same. Head out with Muscle Powered for their weekly bike ride. Try some inline skating and hockey at Marv Teixeira Pavilion. Get into the autumn mood at the Corley Ranch Pumpkin Patch Harvest Festival. Warm your belly and your heart at the Douglas County Empty Bowls dinner this evening. See all the activities below.
SUNDAY:
- Muscle Powered Weekly Bike Ride -Meet in the Freemont School South Parking Lot (8am; consists of two loops which are 10-15 miles long each, this will allow a rider to do 10-15 miles or 20-30 miles; ride pace will vary depending on rider level, but usually about 12-16 mph; email Shane shane@shanetrotter.net for questions about the ride; All riders must have a bicycle in safe working condition, helmet, and closed toed shoes. Participants are responsible for their own transportation to the meeting site)
- Nevada Artists Association Art Exhibit featuring artists Anna Louise Dardin and Bob Hickox with Photography by Chas. H. McDonnell, III at the Carson Visitor Center (8am-5pm)
- Breakfast and Bowl at Carson Lanes (9am-12pm; breakfast and unlimited bowling until noon $13, $8 kids 12 and younger)
- CC BMX Racing at the Livermore (Edmonds) Sports Complex: 1555 Livermore Lane (signups 9am-10am; $10, must be USABMX member; new rider kits available)
- Special Olympics Soccer Practice at Edmonds Sports Complex (10am-12pm)
- Autumn Show: Four Wheels of Now and Then at the Nevada Artists Association Gallery in the Brewery Arts Center (10am-4pm)
- Voices From the Past: Guided Cemetery Walking Tour at the Silver Terrace Cemetery: 381 Cemetery Road, Virginia City (10am-12pm; $15)
Try your luck at Bingo in the Senior Center; it’s open to anyone 21 and older and benefits the Meals on Wheels program. You can’t help but win in downtown Reno: the Great Italian Festival is guaranteed to be delicious.

- Pumpkin Patch Harvest Festival with Pig Races, Hay Slide, Kiddie Land, Straw Maze, Farm Animals and more at Corley Ranch: 859 Highway 395 South, Gardnerville (11am-5pm; admission $7, Seniors $5, under 2 free; additional cost for some rides, etc.)
- Bingo fundraiser for Meals on Wheels at the Carson City Senior Center (doors 11am; 12:30pm start; $10 buy in, $5 extra pack, $1 specials; Must be 21+)
- Costume Workshop with Patchwork Giraffe Part 2 at the Carson City Library (12pm-2pm; This workshop will focus on a specific costume plan: bring in any materials and ideas that you have; under 9 yrs old must be accompanied by someone 13+; Registration required HERE)

- Raiders Booster Club at the Eleventh Frame Lounge in Carson Lanes (vs the San Diego Chargers; 1:25pm; food/drink specials; supervised kids under 21 welcome)
Football isn’t the only game in town today, hit the rink at Marv Teixeira for some skating with the Sierra Inline Hockey League. BMXers have just a few more weeks of races before they wrap up for the season.
