Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include Polar Express train rides, Touched By Angels hosts a garden craft show on Saturday, a night photo shoot at the Nevada State museum, Rob Sherwood headlines the Carson Comedy Club at the Carson Nugget, 'Matilda the Musical' and more!

The Carson City Raiders Booster Club's Christmas Commitment Fundraiser for Home Bound Seniors will be taking place on Sunday, Nov. 17 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Carson Lanes Eleventh Frame Lounge, 4600 Snyder Avenue in Carson City.

On August 17, at 5:30 pm at Rob McFadden Plaza in Carson City, CHS Head Football Coach Blair Roman will induct the 2019 Carson Football Hall of Fame Class.

The Carson City Raiders Booster Club, a family-based group together for 26 seasons and sanctioned by the Oakland Raiders, invites all fans to our annual membership picnic on Saturday, July 13 from 11 am to 3 pm at the Dayton State Park (825 US Hwy 50 East, Dayton, NV). Parking is $5 and you will receive 3 raffle prize drawing tickets. The club will provide hamburgers and hot dogs to new and returning members. Carson High School students not only experienced exciting college, job, and career opportunities outside of school this past week, they were also presented with an explosion of options directly.

Chamber Orchestra Students returned from their successful regional music festival in San Francisco, several CHS students enjoyed job shadowing with Nevada Legislators, and May 21 offered students access to its job and career fair throughout the day.

CARSON CITY — The Carson High School Wind Ensemble and Midnight Blues Jazz Ensemble performed in southern California taking home numerous awards at last weekend’s Music in the Parks Festival.

Dear Friends, happy spring time! While our newest season officially arrived March 20th, it seems just now I am starting to believe winter is finally losing its grip and giving way to the kinder, gentler, days of spring. With each day, I see a little more of the renewal of life we have come to associate with this time of year.

At the 27th annual Band-O-Rama at Carson High School, Greater Nevada Credit Union proudly presented the Carson High School Blue Thunder Marching Band with a sponsorship check for the 2018-2019 school year.

Local community members and organizations donated generously to Carson City Senior Center’s Meals on Wheels recipients this holiday season with gifts of personal necessities and nice-to-have items for the area’s senior population.

Students of Carson City School District are back to school Monday, Jan. 7. Sleeping in will become a thing of the past, and the alarm clock snooze button will become the most used and abused item owned by those whose pituitary glands refuse to follow the built-in clock of the body.

Carson City School District has got to be one of the best places on earth to work, this coming from someone who has been here for 18 years. Some may call this hyperbole, but if someone actually took the time to do the research, he would find hyperbole is not the case as further evidence of this may be seen in the following letter written to all teachers within the school district by a friendly, kind, and professional Superintendent, Richard Stokes.

CHS Social Studies teacher Angila Golik, along with teachers Curtis Kortemeier, Mike Malley and John Martin, and a few other teachers, wanting to help the fire victims in Paradise, Calif. have donated completed art pieces to be raffled among teachers and the Carson City community since many of them know someone affected by the fire.

Douglas High School’s athletic department received a pair of orange-clad Automatic External Defibrillator devices from Carson Valley Medical Center Tuesday afternoon.

CVMC primary care provider Jim Gocke, APRN, and CVMC Hospital Foundation board member Nita Schwartz, MD, were on hand to present the devices to Douglas High student athletes and athletic department administration.

‘Break a leg’ to the talented kids in Wild Horse Children’s Theater. Their newest production, ‘Junie B. Jones, Jr.' opens at the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall tonight. The Reno Coin Club has returned to the Nevada State Museum for it’s annual National Coin Week celebration with lectures, demonstrations, and foreign coins for kids. It’s a BINGO kind of night. Dayton High School is raising funds for their Safe Grad Night with a huge raffle and plenty of family-friendly BINGO fun. Join the Carson Victory Rollers roller derby girls at Battle Born Social for a Friday Night BINGO Bash.

Silver State Gymnastics Team competed at the Nevada State Gymnastics Meet in Las Vegas during the March 16-17 weekend.

The Carson City Senior Center collected more than 550 gifts from area residents and businesses for homebound seniors this year. The Carson City Senior Center’s Meals on Wheels program delivers almost 300 meals to homebound seniors daily. In the past year, the Center has provided over 79,500 hot meals.

Sunday is usually synonymous with football this time of year. Raiders fans, and non-fans for that matter, are invited to the Eleventh Frame Lounge inside Carson Lanes to watch the game and join in the annual Adopt-a-Senior Fundraiser. If you’ve got a bibliophile on your gift list, the Nevada State Museum has got you covered. You’ll get the chance to meet ten notable Nevadan authors, learn more about our great state, and get a signed copy one of the many books available. Read on and enjoy your weekend.

With Thanksgiving just days away, the holiday season is just around the corner. The annual Holiday Craft Fair at Carson High features a plethora of handmade and locally crafted gifts for the loved ones on your shopping list. Take the plunge at the Carson Aquatic Center if you want to get a picture with Scuba Santa. Grab a coat, some friends, and your ID and head downtown for this month’s beer crawl. $15 gets you a glass and your first beer, from there you’ll pay only $1 for refills at several watering holes. There’s even more to enjoy this weekend, so keep reading for your options.

The Carson City Raiders Booster Club invites all Raiders fans to join them for each Oakland Raiders football game, home or away, at the Carson Lanes 11th Frame Lounge.
This Sunday, Sept. 10th, the Raiders take on the Tennessee Titans at 10 a.m.
Food and drink specials are available at local restaurants within the Carson Lanes Bowling Alley
The club is accepting new members at this time. Membership cost is $30 for single membership; $40 family or $50 family with two votes on club business.

The Carson City Raiders Booster Club will hold its annual Picnic and Membership Drive Saturday, July 22 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Dayton State Park in the covered public-use area. The club welcomes all Raiders fans, as well as those who are not.

The Carson City Raiders Booster Club will hold its inaugural Fishing Derby Saturday, May 20th at Topaz Lake.
Sign ups are from 6-8 a.m. behind the lodge. Entry fee is $10 per person; up to three lines in the water. Each entrant must have a valid/current fishing license. No exceptions. All fishing rules/laws must be followed.

Bet your bottom dollar that it will be a great weekend. Wild Horse Children’s Theater finishes up its spring production of ‘Annie, Jr: The Musical,’ so don’t miss your chance to catch these talented kids on stage. Carson High School students are currently working with great intensity to fulfill their Senior Projects, a graduation requirement.

All those involved encourage students to pursue a personal interest, something to benefit others, or something to prepare themselves for their future.

How adventurous are you? Ascent Runs continues their Be Bold, Run in the Cold Winter Trail Series with a five or ten kilometer run starting at Centennial Park. If you’d like a less strenuous outdoor activity, then the Downtown Business Association’s monthly Wine Walk is a perfect choice. The wine walk is a rain, snow, or shine event, so bring an umbrella.
