Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region. Several fundraisers, including the annual “Share Your Christmas” Food Drive will be available throughout the Carson City, Minden and Reno areas on Friday. Visitors to the Nevada State Museum in Carson City this Tuesday, Feb. 4, will find themselves in history’s front row as the museum celebrates the 150th anniversary of the Carson City Mint. Just as it did 150 years earlier to the day, the Mint’s Coin Press No. 1 will be pressing silver coins, complete with the famous “CC” mint mark.

Obituary: Nevada outdoorsman, firefighter and artist David E. Wise

David Wise, age 82, passed away on August 29, 2019. Dave was a 2nd generation Nevadan born in Carson City on July 14, 1937 to Roy and Lynn (Stewart) Wise. He was an amazing man who loved life, he was easy going, caring, funny, loving, and always had the most positive attitude. He was always smiling, even in the end.

He was so well liked, loved by others and had so many friends who thought highly of him. He loved his family and his extended family who just simply became his family.
