A 29 year-old Yerington man was arrested early Saturday morning at 2:08 a.m. in the area of Carson River Road and East Fifth Street for a second driving under the influence (DUI) offense, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy said, this one involving a combination of alcohol and marijuana use.

It’s all hands on deck for the Deputy Howell Memorial Music Festival; a meeting for the volunteers is tonight at Battle Born Harley Davidson. Grab your cowboy boots and head out to Carson Lanes for line dance lessons.

The Nevada Department of Wildlife is sponsoring a three hour intro to bow fishing clinic on Wednesday, June 14, 2017. This is an introductory class and all materials will be supplied. The clinic is designed for individuals 18 years and older who are interested in the basics of bow fishing in Nevada.

Planes, trains, and automobiles take over Carson City this weekend. Steampunk ‘N’ Trains at the Nevada Railroad Museum features train rides, fun costumes, food trucks and more. You’ll find two car shows in town – the Party at the Pavilion as part of the Nevada State Fair and the Carson City Downtown Revival Car Show at the Carson Nugget. Congratulations to the Class of 2017 at Carson High School. Though the school year is concluded, teachers will be talking about this class for some time to come. According to CHS government teacher Angila Golik, “This is an amazing class of great kids, a huge accomplishment since there are close to 500 seniors in the class.”

If you happen to be up very early on Saturday morning, you may just see some runners in the pre-dawn hours. The Reno-Tahoe Odyssey, a 178 mile relay, passes through Carson City on its way to Virginia City. A huge congratulations goes out to the Class of 2017; the Carson High graduates will get their diplomas today. Carson City Parks and Recreation Department is kicking off the summer with some new programs for people of all ages.

The department is taking advantage of the open space available during the summertime and bringing additional sports and programs to the community. This year we are excited to offer three new activities to the public at the Carson City MAC, also known as the Carson City Multi-Purpose Athletic Center.
