Carson City Parks and Recreation offers new, all-ages summer sports and activities
Carson City Parks and Recreation Department is kicking off the summer with some new programs for people of all ages.
The department is taking advantage of the open space available during the summertime and bringing additional sports and programs to the community. This year we are excited to offer three new activities to the public at the Carson City MAC, also known as the Carson City Multi-Purpose Athletic Center.
Carson City Park and Recreation is bringing High School Co-Ed Dodgeball to the Carson City MAC! All incoming 9th – 12th graders, ages 14-17 are welcome. Games will take place beginning June 19th, Monday and Wednesday nights, starting at 6:30pm. $15 per player. Sign up now! Registration closes June 14th. This is a team based registration. You can register in person at the MAC Monday through Friday from 7AM-7PM or online at www.carson.org/ccpr.
Additionally, the Carson City MAC is also offering 3v3 Summer Basketball for adults. Games will take place Tuesday and Thursday evenings starting June 13th at 6:30pm. $240 per 8-player team; $60 each additional player. Register in person at the MAC Monday through Friday from 7AM-7PM. Space is extremely limited, therefore registration is on a first-come-first-served basis. Spots will not be held without payment.
Also at the Carson City MAC: Pickle-ball! For those unfamiliar to the sport, Pickle-ball is a lively racket game for all ages, traditionally played on a badminton-sized court with special wooden paddles and a wiffle-like ball. The sport first began in 1965 in a small town near Seattle, Washington. Pickle-ball has gained popularity all over the world, piquing the interest of community groups, physical education classes, and more. The Carson City MAC is proud to offer this fun new sport to the community and our surrounding neighbors. For newcomers, we have pickle-ball volunteers who would love to teach new players. Pickle-ball will be available at the MAC Monday through Friday from 6:30 AM-12:00 PM, Saturdays from 9:00 AM-1:00 PM, and Sundays from 10:30 AM-2:30 PM. Regular MAC admission rates apply.
For any questions, please contact Scott Chapman schapman@carson.org or call the MAC at (775) 887-2339.
