It’s not the sunny spring weekend many of us were hoping for, but it’s here nonetheless. Start the day at Applebee’s for a Flapjack Fundraiser to benefit the Eagle Valley Middle School Robotics Team. TOCCATA kicks off its 12th season of Bach’s St. Matthew Passion; enjoy free admittance to today’s dress rehearsal at Shepherd of the Sierra Lutheran Church. Carson Lodge Poker Night Fundraiser - Open to All

The Carson Lodge No. 1 of Free and Accepted Masons announces it is hosting the Third Annual Mason’s Charity Poker Tournament on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at the Carson Plaza Convention Center.

All proceeds from the event will benefit Masonic youth organizations: Carson High School scholarships, Rainbow Girls, Carson High School Safe Graduation and the preservation fund of the original V&T Railroad Depot.

El Día de los niños/El Día de los libros (Children’s Day/Book Day), commonly known as Día, is a nationally recognized initiative that emphasizes the importance of literacy for all children from all backgrounds. It is a daily commitment to linking children and their families to diverse books, languages, and cultures.

The Carson City Library will be hosting several programs during the month of April to celebrate Día to promote diversity, language, culture, and learning in Carson City!

Sunday, April 2: Things to do around Carson City

I’m hoping that April brings more than just showers. Not that I don’t love the spring flowers, but I’m really ready for some sunshine. Start off the month with a clean kitchen: let the Elks Club take care of breakfast. Grab your guitar, tambourine, ukulele, or vocal chords and join the A to Zen Music Jam. Head ‘North by Northwest’ at the Galaxy Theater. The classic thriller is on the big screen at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Carson City Public Works to conduct water main flushes beginning Monday

Carson City’s water main flushing operations will take place the week of April 3rd in the area south of Little Lane, north of Koontz Lane and east of Saliman Road. There is potential for temporary periods discolored water in that area.

It may be April’s Fools Day, but the fun going on around town is no joke. Get your blood pumping with the Carson Canyon Half Marathon (or Half/Half Marathon if you want something shorter.) It’s Wine Walk weekend, and with the sunny day you have no reason to stay home. The Youth Theater Carson City Showstoppers want to ‘Give Our Regards to Broadway’ during their one weekend only production. A 57 year-old Yerington man was booked into the Carson City Jail Friday morning at 9:05 a.m. on a felony outstanding fugitive from justice warrant issued out of the California Superior Court in Riverside County, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy said.
