Carson City sheriff's arrest log: Two jailed Friday night for disorderly

Three men were arrested Friday night in the area of Robinson and Pratt, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy said, including two of them for misdemeanor disorderly conduct involving alcohol.

One might think that the end of summer means that the fun times are over: they would be wrong. This list of happenings in the Carson City area isn’t getting any shorter. The annual Genoa Candy Dance is a favorite among locals and visitors alike, and this weekend welcomes the first ever Silver State Arts Festival at Fuji Park, as well. The first ever Community Garage Sale at the Community Center offers one-stop bargain hunting. Swing into the season at the monthly dance party hosted by the High Sierra Swing Dance Club.

My daily list of activities might be called ‘things to do in Carson City,’ but I frequently include happenings from the surrounding valleys. Today, it’s the Thirsty Third Thursday wine walk in downtown Gardnerville that gets the spotlight. Dayton’s weekly Farmers Market can be found this afternoon in front of ‘Community Roots’ on Highway 50. It’s probably past patio weather, but there is plenty of room inside of Jimmy G’s Cigar Bar for all of tonight’s karaoke lovers.

WNC offers driver education classes in Carson City

Driver Education courses are available in three separate sessions at Western Nevada College in Carson City before the end of the year.

Teens age 15 and older can choose between Saturday sessions that begin on Sept. 10 and Oct. 15, or a daily session starting on Tuesday, Dec. 27.

Each session includes four days of instruction, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Cost is $100.

In addition to Nevada driving regulations, the course covers how to handle distractions and peer pressure, and how to prevent falling asleep at the wheel or driving under the influence.

Carson City man allegedly pulls knife on Walmart security, jailed on robbery and drug charges

A 34-year-old Carson City man faces robbery and drug charges after he allegedly pulled a large knife on Walmart security Saturday when they confronted him for shoplifting, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
